"In Excellent condition, reconditioned by a synth tech in July 2012

This is a Sequential Pro-One vintage analogue monophonic synthesiser in wonderful cosmetic condition and full working condition. This is the version you want, a late J-wire version, meaning it has the transformer bolted to the chassis, as opposed to the later models that had it bolted to the circuit board, and the J-wire keyboard. And to boot, check out the images below, I’m selling it complete with a ‘just in case’ accessories kit from Wine Country Sequential’, including the manual and service manual – I doubt you’ll see such an opportunity come by on eBay for quite some time, if ever.

When I obtained the synthesiser some years ago, the keyboard action was really sloppy; it turned out that the little rubber key contacts had turned brittle and hard, something that’s very common. And so I obtained replacements via Wine Country Sequential in California and replaced the lot – it’s laborious but not too difficult. The keyboard action is now wonderful!

As the pictures below will indicate, I had the Pro-One recently checked out by a synth technician, and in my opinion I used one of the finest in this country, Lucid Sounds based in Cornwall, UK.. If you have heard of the VEMIA auctions that are run bi-annually, then you will be familiar with that name, because Lucid repairs and overhauls probably about 80% of the items that end up being auctioned! He is a very talented guy, and I feel privileged to have been lucky enough to have him look at this item. As you’ll see via the invoice (a copy of which will be sent to the winning bidder), there were just a few minor things that needed attention, and Lucid tested the machine for a whole 3 hours – no problems! :-)

On a personal note, I think the Pro-One is one of the finest from the vintage era, and totally underrated. Vince Clarke loves this thing, and I particularly love what Add N to (X) do with it (check out their track ‘Revenge of the Black Regent’ for a very powerful bassline). And then there’s the sequencer – an amazing package."
