"Akai VX-90 Very Rare Rack Mount Midi Module. This is a very rare piece of gear. It is the the prototype of the cream 2 rack unit VX-90 that went into production. An easier user interface for programming then the production model. I don't think you'll see too many of these around, I've never come across another one in over 20 years. Definitely one for the collectors."

Looks like an AX80 in a rack as opposed to the AX73 that the production VX90 was based on. Cool because of rarity, but AX80s are dirt cheap.

ReplyDeleteWow some fool paid almost $2k for an AX80 without keys... Surely one could have got much nicer synth than that for that kind of money...seems a little silly even for historical value.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not, did anyone notice the upper/lower outputs? This is a lot lot like an MKS-80, the question is is it an AX-80 splitted up 8-4/4 voices or a double AX-80 rack 16-8/8 voices setup? Very interesting to know what the specs are or to have some pictures from all the used components inside, id say CEM heaven :)
