1986 Doepfer MCV1 MIDI-to-CV Converter & 1997 Interview

via PatchPierre.Net where you'll find the full post.

"In 1986 Doepfer introduced the first in a series of MIDI-to-CV interfaces, the MCV1.

The MCV1 was a monophonic MIDI-to-CV/GATE-Interface that could control other vintage analog synthesizers equipped with CV and Gate/Trigger inputs via MIDI."

via Pierre Serné on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

Doepfer's introduction to synth design actually started back in 1977. Via Wikipedia: "Dieter Döpfer began developing audio hardware with a Voltage Controlled Phaser (VCP) module for the Formant, a do-it-yourself-kit analog synthesizer from Elektor magazine in 1977. Several legendary modular synths followed while Döpfer also focused on the development of MIDI equipment during the 1980s."

The eurorack format is largely attributed to him.

Update via Pierre: "I also translated a 1997 KEYS magazine interview that was previously unavailable in English, find it at http://patchpierre.blogspot.nl/p/doepfer-keys-interview_30.html"
