This appears to be the first one featured on the site.
Pics of the inside below.
"Elektor Drumbox M-253
The device is basically functional, i.e. the instruments sound and different rhythms with variations can be set.
However, a humming noise can be heard, which gets louder with the volume control knob (check the power supply).
for sale to hobbyists and connoisseurs"

Sequenced Formants
video upload by Memetune Studio
"Did you know someone is still making Formant synthesiser modules? Nor did I!
I just got the sequencer and its great - I've always wanted one for my system, but didn't want to put something 'inauthentic' in the cab. Well I finally found someone who is making the real thing - Jos Van Ras http://www.josvanras.com/ [P.S. See the JVS label for more].
Its quite an interesting module - for a start it is circular - and I don't have any other circular sequencers. Secondly it has 10 steps which is always a good thing, as long as you can set it to less if you want - and this one has switches to set it to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. I wish it could do 7 and 9 as well - maybe I can mod it for that at some point. And you can skip steps, slew, and change the gate outputs in various ways. Pretty cool! I might get a second one so I can do polyrhythmic stuff one day
Here is a little sketch I made with it..."

DIY Sequencer for the Elektor Formant
video upload by Andreas Remshagen
"More Info and Cirquit:
www.remshagen.eu/Formant/Sequencer.htm
I saw this Sequencer for the Elektor Formant in some Vids in the Net - but i couldn't get the original circuit. So i created an easy circuit that is based on the Baby 10- Sequencer. Its a 555-Clock with a 4017-Counter.
The Sequencer can be driven by an external Clock and it has two Gate and CV-outputs.
I connected the Gate and CV directly with the Formants Gate and KOV inputs. If you don't want to make this internal connection then you can do this via the CV and Gate output Jacks."

The modules are designed in a flat design so no wiring to the Pots, Switches and Jacks !!
See for more info on http://www.josvanras.com/"

ELEKTOR Formant synthesizer with some nice mods
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"1970’s Netherlands DIY ( the Magazine “Elektor” provided the schematics and parts )
With added CV and GATE input on female stereo jack, and PORTAMENTO added to the modules ( really nice big vintage knob for timing adjustment )
It originally came with a keyboard ( see last two pics ) which connected to the unit, I still have it ( not working but easy fix ) and I can send it with the unit for free, it’s a 5 octave board though so shipping will be substantially higher.Since I added CV/gate input and portamento I never looked back,so I didn’t fix it.
Two extra non original modules: phaser and pano ( panning module ) are installed, the phaser works but I never really “got it” as it doesn’t really seems to “phase”.
Included are also a bunch of patch cables, the original Dutch manual, and a diagnostics cable which connects to the modules and modules chassis, so you can work on the module outside of ther housing.
Everything is working, with maybe a minimal scratchy pot or switch or two, but for around 50 years old it’s in absolutely great shape! Nothing dramatic
The wood-laminate has a few 'missing pieces'"

Elektor Labs J2B 9bit synthesizer midi / Soulsby Atmegatron clone
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Elektor TV
Elektor J2B Synthesizer First Demo of Prototype from 2014.
"This video shows Elektor's J2B Synthesizer prototype running a soft synthesizer engine ported from the ATmegatron by Soulsby. Listen carefully to the sounds produced by this beast and admire the way you can control it. LPC1347 rulez the waves :-)"
via this auction
"This is a port of the Soulsby Atmegatron 8-bit monophonic synthesizer to the Elektor J2B LPC1343 ARM Cortex-M3 board. The original Atmegatron is based on an 8-bit, 32 KB flash memory ATmega328 and the firmware is available as an open source Arduino sketch. The J2B board has a 32-bit LPC1343 ARM Cortex-M3 processor with 32 KB flash memory.
The Atmegatron has two rotary encoders, eight potentiometers and a pushbutton. Two potentiometers are for volume and bass boost, the others control the synthesizer itself. The J2B board can have up to nine rotary encoders, or eight plus a pushbutton.
The Atmegatron uses a bunch of bi-color LEDs to interface with the user. The J2B can have an LCD.
The Atmegatron uses PWM to produce its sound, the J2B has excellent PWM capabilities.
Based on the previous observations, porting the Atmegatron to the J2B should not be a huge task, which is why I started doing it. The most daunting task was to replace the analog potentiometers by rotary encoders while keeping the same feel.
Two rotary encoders replicate the Atmegatron encoders, six others simulate the potentiometers. The bi-color LEDs are replaced by a 2x16 LCD, but I added two bi-color LEDs to indicate the red/green modes of the synthesizer.
A cool thing of the J2B is its built-in USB capabilities making it possible to update the firmware from any Windows PC simply by copying a file to the board which is seen as an external drive. No programmer needed at all.
PWM capabilities of the LPC1343 are a bit better than those of the ATmega328, which allowed me to increase the sample frequency and gain a bit, making it a 9-bit synthesizer. So, in theory, the sound quality of the J2B synth should be a little better than the Atmegatron."

Clouds-Two DIY analog String Machines
video upload by Andreas Remshagen
A Live-Performance with my two DIY String-Synths
I used the Strings-Synth and the Strings-Choir-Synth 2.0
The Melody comes from the Elektor-Formant and the Drums are from my analog DS7-Clone Drumbox.
All Synthesizers are driven from my Flowstone Sequencer-Software and two Polyend Poly Modules
The effects are from the Elektor Formants Noise routed through a Steiner-Parker Filterclone and Ray Wilsons Noisebox (Musicfromouterspace.com)
All String-Machines are also based one Ray Wilsons cirquits
The Solo-Synth plays the YuSynth-VCO. The ADSR is connected with
the VCO`s CV in and gives the character of a Japanese Flute

1977 Elektor Formant synthesizer demo
video upload by Simon Claessen
"First try after extensive restoration of this beast. Accompanied by the DDrum AT and a Beatstep pro for the triggers and modulaton.
I still have to tune all the oscillators but all the crackling potentiometers, jacks and non responsive keyboard is fixed now"
