New Forms Festival Vancouver to Feature Don Buchla Performance & Lecture
"With just over two months until this years festival begins, New Forms Festival is happy to announce our second wave of artists, new commissions and additional festival venues.
On Thursday September 12th, New Forms is proud to host the World Premier of Jeff Mills’: STAR PEOPLE. An all original 3 hour musical observation and visual journey on the relationship between humans and our paternal connection with visitors from the Stars.
New Forms Festival 13 will also host electronic instrument pioneer Don Buchla. Buchla will be presenting a performance and lecture in conjunction with an exhibition of his renowned instruments. 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of Buchla's first instrument and this exhibition will offer the public a unique and extremely rare opportunity to experience the union of the maker and his creations.
Another addition will include 'Hypercube.' This is a new commission from 1024Architecture in collaboration with Reece Terris, Innes Yates and Cedric Bomford.
To round out our July announcement, we have added artists: Anthony Naples, Evy Jane, Logan Sturrock, Studio Camp, Peter Hagge, Frieda-raye Green, Strawberry Jacuzzi, Josephin Böttger, Sergej Tolksdorf and Trapez.
Festival events will be taking place at several locations throughout the city including the Centre for Digital Media, Mixed Use, VIVO, The Western Front, the grunt gallery, Equinox Gallery and New Brighton Park.
Thank you for the support so far and please stay tuned for further announcements and artist additions in the coming weeks…
