"Up for auction is a ready-to-use Sammich SID DIY synthesizer based on the legendary MOS SID (Sound Interface Design) sound chip of the Commodore C64. This is a powerful synth which doesn't only do the usual 8bit chiptune bleeps, but can also produce some pretty fat leads and basses.

The unit on offer here was carefully built from one of Wilba's original kits and comes complete with two original MOS8580 SID chips installed. To my ears at least, the 8580 with its improved filter is better suited for use in a synthesizer than the 6581. But of course, you could also install a pair of 6581, if you prefer those.

This unit is fully working and in decent cosmetic condition. The only major cosmetic blemish is on the back panel (see second picture), where you can see some smeared white paint from a semi-successful attempt to fill in the engraved inscription with a white permament marker. Not very pretty, alghough it doesn't affect the unit's functionality. To make up for it, I'm including a EU power supply in this auction. :) "
