"People talk about the 'thick' sound of old analog synth filters. As a result, they are widely copied. But if you want a filter that sounds REALLY special and good, forget the solid-state imitations or the hokey "virtual analog" business - - you need a TM-2. It's real--all natural, all tube. The TM-2 is also ideal for giving weight and power to drum machines and bass lines in techno music or remixes. OR it works as a wah pedal, by plugging in any standard expression pedal. It's a sound you JUST CAN'T GET from other filters on the market! The TM-2 consists of two twin-t bandpass filters in parallel. Unlike any other such filter on the market, these filters use vacuum-tube pentodes.. NO semiconductors. The two filters have their resonant frequencies spaced 2 octaves apart--one filters the all-important midrange, the other filters bass. They are voltage-control-tuned with a custom-made "Vactrol" type dual optocoupler. Resonance or sharpness for the filters is adjustable. The filter outputs pass through an additional pentode which may be used as a VCA for electronic-music effects. (TM-2 may be used only as a tube VCA by turning down the filter resonance.) Output signal is buffered, so it can drive any line-level input."
