"The RF Nomad Launch Party was a fun evening; a gathering of synth and electronic music enthusiasts, at Assemble Pittsburgh on August 23. Module designer, Russ Hoffman, gave a brief talk on the basics of modular synthesis, as well as a description of the Evaton Technologies RF Nomad shortwave synth module. A demonstration of the module was given, using a vintage Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer as a source of EMI for the RF Nomad to chew on. Following the presentation, live music was performed by Greg VanEck (modular synthesizer with RF Nomad), Margaret Cox (manipulated field recordings and live contact microphones), and the duo of 8CYLINDER and Tongue-Cut Sparrow (modular synthesizers, circuit-bent electronics, homebrew electronic instruments, and RF Nomad). Evaton Technologies plans to organize more synth events in Pittsburgh in the future. "
