"CyberStep, Inc. (based in Tokyo, Japan) has announced two limited-edition 'classic gaming console' models of the KDJ-ONE, the all-in-one solution for the mobile musician for their upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
The KDJ-ONE was developed entirely in-house and puts a full studio’s array of tools at a musician’s fingertips. The device’s size and 10 hour battery life make it the perfect solution to a mobile artist’s needs. With the intent to start commercial sales in 2015, CyberStep, Inc. will begin their Kickstarter campaign by the end of November.

In conjunction with this announcement, CyberStep, Inc. has released another promotional video, featuring Mr. Shinji Hosoe, a prolific composer who has had a hand in the creation of numerous game soundtracks, including Ridge Racer.
Perhaps most famous for his role in the creation of Ridge Racer’s soundtrack, Shinji Hosoe has had firsthand experience in dealing with the ever-changing world of music composition for games. In the interview, Mr. Hosoe offers his opinion of the KDJ-ONE and its potential.

Shinji Hosoe is the representative director for SuperSweep, a Japanese electronic music studio that specializes in producing soundtracks for games and animation. He has composed music for a number of memorable games. Since its founding in 2000, SuperSweep has composed and published music and soundtracks for games such as “Taiko Drum Master,” and “Tekken Tag Tournament II.”

As the software has been designed to work in tandem with the KDJ-ONE unit, simply connect the device to your computer via USB cable and you’ll be able to instantly synch your song and pattern data. By connecting the two, you’ll also be able to copy and paste notes and patterns between the two via the piano roll.
While more than sufficient as a standalone DAW, the KDJ software can also be used as a VST plugin for use in mainstream programs such as Cubase and Pro Tools. The software will also feature a wider piano roll screen and a file manager that makes importing samples as simple as dragging and dropping them into the window. The file manager accepts not only MIDI files (SMF), but is also compatible with NSF files used on classic game consoles."
