"It's highly sought after for beautifully lush strings, brass and uniquely eerie vocal choir sounds, not to mention the remarkably huge cathedral pipe organ preset. With 3 detunable VCOs (supposedly based on the divide-down VCOs from the huge Korg PS3300 modular) it has a very thick rich sound, especially when routed through the onboard phaser - pan the dry output L and mix output R for some amazing stereo animation.

Like many vintage string machines it's fully polyphonic - if you lay your arm across the keyboard, every since note will sound. However, unlike ARPs and Rolands from the same time, each key has its own envelope generator which makes playing the Korg as a polysynth much more pleasing than dealing with typical string machine note-retriggering behavior.

This Korg was completely overhauled in 2009 including recapping the power supply and recalibrating the VCOs. It plays remarkably in tune with no warm-up time needed."
