"Many owners say the SSM chip based Rev 2 simply sounds better (significantly more rounded and fuller) than the other Revs. This is why the Rev 2 is the most coveted model of the Prophet lineage. This Prophet responds quick and predictable on all 61 keys. Response of the 61 keys, knobs, and switches are clean, accurate and precise. I am the original owner of this Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 and personally delivered it to Sequential Circuits N 1st Street San Jose, CA for maintenance and upgrades. The Prophet 5 was recently serviced by Wine Country Productions Inc. (ex-Sequential techs) and passed an engineered functional test which systematically checks every aspect of the instrument to assure that all electronics and features are operating reliably and within factory specifications.
The Prophet 5 was designed to be a true 5 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer with the ability to store and recall patches. This particular Prophet 5 is a Rev 2 and although it does not have midi, Kenton Electronics makes a Profit 5 Midi Retrofit Kit for the Prophet 5 Rev 2.
