Published on May 25, 2017 The Daydream Sound

"WAVEBOY FX disk are a set of after market disks for the Ensoniq EPS16+, TS10 & ASR-10. In this video we’ll do a quick demo of the AUDIO-IN EFFECTS DISK. Specifically, the Audio-In/Time Dicer - Input Effects and Pitch Shifting functions by passing a live sequence from the Roland MC303 directly in to the EPS16+

How to load Waveboy FX disk

1. Plug the output of your external source into the Audio Input of the EPS16+. This can be a microphone or line level signal as long as it terminates to an unbalanced ¼” cable (In the FX menu you can choose between MIC & LINE as a source).

2. Once your EPS16+ is booted up Insert the Waveboy FX floppy disk.

3. Press LOAD then EFFECTS (the one in the 'PAGE' section to the far left of the EPS16+). This will load the contents of the FX disk.

4. Scroll until you see TIME-DICER+X. This will pass the audio from the EPS16+’s audio input through the samplers FX section.

5. Press LOAD.

6. The effect will now be visible by pressing the EFFECTS (the one beside the sample button to the far right of the EPS16+) on the EPS16+. Make sure it’s selected.

7. You can now modify the parameters of the FX by pressing EDIT FX (the one in the “PAGE” section to the far left of the EPS16+).

8. You can now begin to play your external source and process it with the EPS16+ FX.

9. That’s it you’re done!

Waveboy Product Description from Chicken Systems Website

Run audio through the Ensoniq EPS-16 PLUS effects! Audio-In effects let you send external audio signals into the effects processor that's built into the Ensoniq EPS-16 PLUS. A guitar, mic, or line level signal, when plugged into the audio-in jack, is routed to BUS1 of the effects processor. A Mic/Line switch and level control adjust the gain of the input. Can I still use the keyboard? Yes, internal sounds can still play too, using BUS2 or BUS3.

What's it good for? Use the EPS-16 PLUS as an extra effects box in your studio. Or play a gig and bring as little equipment as possible - just the EPS-16 PLUS and a mic. You may want to use the unique keyboard-controlled pitch-shifter to change your voice into a vocal quartet in real-time. Or use the Time-Dicer to change the pitch of a track without changing its tempo.

No Hardware. It's a disk? The disk contains a number of effect algorithms which load into the machine. Thirteen of the effects on this disk are enhancements of the ROM effects that are built into the EPS-16 PLUS; from HALL REVERB+X all the way down to WA+DST+REV+X.

The other eight effects on this disk are totally new:
• PLATE REVERB is a studio staple for adding presence and warmth to percussive sounds and solo instruments.

• NON-LINEAR REVERB has an abrupt cutoff instead of a smooth tail - just the ticket for modern drum sounds. A new guitar effect gives you distortion, delay and reverb on the audio in, with a separate chorus and reverb that can be used for other sounds at the same time. And if you like the TIME-DICER, you'll love the new 3-voice pitch shifter: 3V HARMONY. Polyphonic keyboard control means it works as a vocal harmonizer, creating three new harmony parts from one voice input.

Thanks for listening Everyone!

Get the music!"
