Modular + Pedals #14: Mutable Instruments Plaits - Red Panda Particle

Published on Apr 15, 2018 Modular + Pedals

"Patch notes:

ALM Busy Circuits Pamela's New Workout is the main clock and trigger sequencer.

Channel 1 sends a random gate to trigger the Korg SQ-1 (settings: x1, Gate, RSkip CV1).

Channel 2 is triggering the S&H on Mutable Instruments Kinks (settings: /2, Gate, RSkip CV1, EStep 05, ETrig 05).

Channel 3 sends a gate to the strum input on Rings (settings: x2, Gate, RSkip CV1).

Channel 5 is self-patched into the CV1 input on Pam's, sending a random CV to control the amount of random skipping on the rest of the tracks (settings: /5, Random, Level 70%, Offset 30%, Width 100%).

Channel 6 is triggering the kick drum on channel 1 of Mutable Instruments Peaks (settings: x1, Gate, RSkip CV1, EStep 05, ETrig 03).

Channel 7 is triggering the strike input on the second channel of Make Noise LxD (settings: x1, Gate, RSkip CV1, EStep 05, ETrig 04).

Channel 8 is triggering the strike input on the first channel of Make Noise LxD (settings: x1.3, Gate, Width 11%, RSkip CV1, Slop 06%).

Korg SQ-1 is running 2 sequences. Sequence A has 5 active steps and is fed into the 1v/oct input on Intellijel uScale II, sequence B has 7 active steps and is fed into the shift input on Intellijel uScale II, and this results in a 35 note sequence. The gate output of sequence A is patched into the trigger input on Mutable Instruments Plaits.

Intellijel uScale II is receiving CV from Korg SQ-1, output A goes to the 1v/oct input on Mutable Instruments Plaits, output B goes to the input of the S&H on Mutable Instruments Kinks, and from there to the 1v/oct input on Mutable Instruments Rings.

Mutable Instruments Plaits is in the inharmonic string modeling mode, timbre and morph are modulated by a sine wave LFO from the second channel on Peaks which is patched thru the sign section of Kinks. The output goes into the input of the ALM Busy Circuits S.B.G, out to the Red Panda Particle, and back again, and from there to first channel of Blinds.

Mutable Instruments Rings is in sympathetic strings mode with 1 note polyphony, brightness is modulated by a sine wave LFO from the second channel on Peaks which is patched thru the sign section of Kinks. The output is fed into the second channel on Blinds.

The hihat is the noise from the S&H on Kinks patched into the Make Noise LxD, triggered by Pam's.

The snare is the Noise Engineering Ataraxic Translatron patched into the Make Noise LxD, triggered by Pam's.

The summed output of channels 1 and 2 (Plaits, Rings) of Blinds are patched into Clouds, the summed output of channels 3 and 4 (snare, hihat) are patched directly into the soundcard (small reverb added in post).

The Red Panda Particle is in the reverse mode with zero feedback and the freeze engaged.

Mutable Instruments Clouds is in standard granular mode, serving as a short delay and an atmospheric reverb."
