Percussa Super Signal Processor Update

via Percussa

You can find Percussa SUPERBOOTH videos here.

"We just got back from Superbooth in Berlin where we showed two demo cases featuring the SSP: once case with Eric Synth modules and one case featuring Intellijel and Make Noise modules.

Both cases were set up to sample sounds into the SSP and then use them for granular or wavetable synthesis. Besides that we also demoed various cross-modulations, sending signals out of the SSP and back into it (e.g. control the WT oscillator using the Intellijel Planar joystick). At the same time we demoed the MIDI controller connectivity including MPE.

Several backers came by our table (you know who you are), and got a hands on demo on the SSP :-) Thanks so much for coming by and for your continued support. The feedback at superbooth was great, several press people shot videos and everyone was excited about the potential of the SSP. Backer Matt volunteered by demoing the SSP at our table (thank you!).

*** Software news ***

1) Multiple sample rates

We added buttons to the global page which allow you to switch sample rates. The SSP now supports three sample rates: 192kHz, 96kHz and 48kHz. Resolution for all sample rates is 32 bit. Each time you switch sample rate a small pop-up is shown in the global editor. By supporting multiple sample rates you gain additional flexibility when building patches and using the SSP.

2) Pitch calibration features

We added pitch inputs to all modules with a frequency input so they can be controlled easily using both the input jacks of the SSP using a CV pitch signal as well as with the MIDI module’s pitch signal. We also added calibration features to help you calibrate a CV keyboard pitch signal. Finally we also added a feature in the MIDI module that analyzes the frequency of an incoming signal such that when you control an oscillator using the SSP’s output jacks you can tune the oscillator to the correct pitch.

3) Parameter usability improvements

We went over all the parameters of the modules we currently have and tested the encoder step sizes and acceleration for each of the parameters to make sure they work well and that everything responds smoothly.

4) Workflow and UI improvements

Based on the feedback from our SSP tester and backer Matt we made a lot of UI and workflow improvements. Matt has been building some really big and impressive patches which is very helpful to find UI glitches and opportunities to improve the workflow. Thanks Matt!

5) DSP loop optimizations

We added a few important optimizations in the signal routing algorithm of our synthesis software so we can run even more modules on the SSP’s processor cores.

*** Next steps production ***

We are kitting parts and dropping them off at our subcontractor this week. As soon as we get the boards back and start assembling, testing and packaging the SSPs we’ll post a new update about the process.

*** Backer survey ***

We will be surveying all backers this week to collect shipping addresses. Since we can only survey everyone once we will collect votes for the stretch modules at the same time.

Thanks again for your support and patience,

Bert & Celine"
