"Legendary EDP Wasp by Chris Huggett appearing in 1978.

The Wasp is a quirky little synthesizer that, despite its toyish look, is extremely powerful instrument and sound generator. You just have to plug it into a solid sound system or amplifier and my god listen!

It’s capable of very fun and funky analog sounds but also ridiculous speaker blowing base frequencies and leads. Very unique synthesiser architecture for programming. Oh and it can be battery powered!!!

It pours out pure analogue heaven, one of the most unique 3 mode filters ever! Interestingly with its analogue circuitry it uses some of the earliest ever digital oscillators. Look it up. Great for all types of Electronic music and sound design.

I recommend you have this unit services, I was going to do it myself before selling but want so see what I can get for it as is, and pass the saving on to you. Also be a great candidate for re-housing if you know how.

The Synthesiser all works, every original nob is present, Keyboard shows only a little ware for its age. All keys are working and sensitive to your electro-static touch. Still a little tape on the synth where I marked settings

All parameters and trims work as they should. The volume “on/off” nob/pot can be a little scratchy wile turning. Also when both oscillators are sounding, wile turning the second oscillators pitch parameter the sounding of the 2nd oscillator can sometimes be a little temperamental or scratchy until you stop turning, doesn’t effect programming probably a service would sort it. A Synth from 1978 is going to have the occasional quirks. Generally positive response from all input. Headphones output and line-out both produce strong signal as does onboard speaker!

The casing has seen better days, the outer casing is really held together by two or three screws and I have some tape supporting it at the back. There are small cracks, in the back corners and around the casing screw holes that used to hold it together better. Nothing serious but feels a bit loose or delicate as a result. This is how it was when I acquired it

Because the circuit boards are sandwiched inside the casing one has to handle the Synth carefully, ideally placed on solid surface for playing and it works consistently. Sometimes after transporting if the casing gets loose you have to re-aline and push it together again or it will not switch on at first: I have had this Synth (among others) for over two decades and it’s always worked, and never stopped working, if on occasion It wasn’t switching on it was after moving it and I just slightly push the casing back into place. I’ve look after it so always works fine for me for studio work.

Under the battery cover the battery connectors are still present and probably working but I haven’t tested with batteries..."
