"Recursion Mechanism" - a sonic sculpture by Richard Devine

Published on Nov 8, 2018 MAKEN0ISE

"'Recursion Mechanism' was a sonic sculpture created by Richard Devine and installed at the Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center during the Make Noise 10-Year Celebration (June 15-17, 2018).

It featured a large Make Noise system, processing and re-processing the sounds of acoustic instruments activated by gate-controlled drum triggers.

In this video, Richard discusses his goals and influences for the piece, as well as glimpses of the work in action!

Thank you to Richard for being a part of our 10-Year Celebration, BMCM+AC for hosting the piece and to all who attended the weekend.
