Moog Model D App - NuEVI & Wind Synth Collection - Mark Steiner

Published on Jan 22, 2019 Mark Steiner

"This collection of 120 sounds are optimized for breath control keyboards and instruments, and especially for the NuEVI made by Berglund Instruments.

Please, email me at monkeydrums@hotmail.com to order. Cost is $95.

After searching a great many apps and plugins, I have found Moog's official "Minimoog Model D App for iPad" to be the VERY best analog modeling app or plugin for breath control. The attacks are just incredible and the sound is gorgeous.

The design lends to some great controls as well, as you can assign multiple destinations for midi CC's. There are also little tricks to find, such as smoothly cross fading different wave shapes with breath and other controls. Very expressive!

You can modulate effects, and you can even crossfade from modulating between LFO and OSC 3. That's where things can start sounding quite modular.

Oh... and I LOVE pitched noise sounds and this synth does it VERY well with great modulation. Wind controlled wind.

And for information or a no cost wait list for the NuEVI, please email: TheNuEVI@gmail.com.

As I typically do with my collections, I make sounds that I would want to use live and in studio. I try to bring something fresh, new, lovely and expressive. And I seek out the very best digital instruments to create for.

For demo reasons, my videos exaggerate the use of the special effects and hidden secret weapons in the patches, but live I'll typically bring them out with more restraint and just give a few hints here and there before going full tilt on occasion. For me it's more about the pretty tones, but I do love to make some magic with the unexpected.

This collection is intended for iPad use, though Moog does say that the Model D App can be used (at least stand-alone) on all 64 bit iPads and iPhones. But especially be sure to optimize your device when playing by:

Going into Airplane mode.
Closing all other apps.
Looking at buffer and latency settings in any musical apps used.

While I love the effects that come with the Model D App, I also love to use Audiobus 3 to run the dry Model D sound through the EOS2 Super Hall reverb (very inexpensive app with a very beautiful reverb sound). This runs great on my iPad Air 2."
