"Yamaha CS80 in outstanding cosmetic condition, fully functional, and plays expressively with polyphonic aftertouch. I have owned this CS80 for over three years and it is in the best condition of any I've ever seen. Even the wood of the cabinet gives off a subtle and pleasant aroma when warmed up.

This CS80 (serial #1311) underwent significant restoration totaling over $6K - $4K in laborcharges alone involving over 350 components and woodwork by the prior owner, an absolute perfectionist - see the complete list of upgrades below.

This listing Includes -

• Serviced and upgraded CS80 in near-mint condition

• Original lid (shown attached)

• Original CS80 Service manual with numerous pages of fold-out schematics - purchased from estate of authorized service provider (examples pictured)

• Two-sided full poster-sized [side 1] full system circuit diagram and [side 2] block diagram. View its size laid over the CS in the photos

• Yamaha CS adjustment procedure guide

• Note - manuals were purchased from estate of repair technician and are clean, no tears, near mint. These are more rare than the CS80s themselves and will not be sold separately

• Third servicing guide (pictured on right) that appears to be more geared toward CS50, but may still be helpful

• No legs or music stand

• Due to vintage of the CS80, being sold AS-IS.

The significant rebuild work done includes:

• Entire case has been re-tolexed using high quality materials by MARS Amp Service Englewood, Co which was a huge undertaking involving the removal of significant electronic components for the bottom casing. The original dark green black felt lining the top case was left intact.

• All metal edge protectors, clasps, and turnbuckles were re-chromed.

• The power outlet was moved from the bottom of the synth to the left side allowing easier access to a removable 3 prong power cord.

• The wood sides were removed and refinished by a master craftsman in Boulder,Co and look incredible.

• New England Analog (NEA) installed rebuild kit #1 from Circuit Solutions which is apower supply rebuild including premium grade Panasonic electrolytic capacitors, Wima encapsulated polypropylene capacitors, and Texas Instruments ICs. The 3 fuses which are difficult to find were alsoreplaced.

• NEA installed rebuild kit # 2 from CSI which includes 58 components for theTKC( touch key coder) boards. These are Panasonic electrolytic caps, TI/Fairchild ICs, machined Mill Max sockets with decoupling caps.

• NEA installed rebuild kit # 3 from CSI which includes 229 components for theCS80s TSB(touch sensor boards) 1&2. These are the polyphonic aftertouch boards and this kit restores all 61 detector circuits, buffers, and multiplexers. Includes Mill-Max brand sockets with integrated"decoupling capacitors". There is a lot of information online about this Yamaha design flaw and how decoupling caps were neverincorporated into the CS80 circuitry for their TKC, TBS, and S&H boards.

• NEA installed rebuild kit #4 from CSI which is for the Sample and Hold boards. This kit which includes 43 components restores and stabilizes all 8 S&H buffers including multiplexers. Includes Panasonic EB series electrolytic Caps, Vishay Capsdesigned for precise S&H functions, Wima Caps, TI/ Fairchild ICs , Mill Max sockets with decoupling Caps.

• Decoupling capacitors provide piece of mind stability in the event of a power spikesor noise along the power rails. Have you ever wondered why the aftertouch is one of the first things to go on a CS80?"
