Dire Dire Docks: Super Mario 64 [cover]

Published on Nov 1, 2019 MIDERA

"A labor of love. I have worked for weeks on this. I created the electric piano sound in the SY77 using FM synthesis alone. The strings are actually a preset - it seemed to sound very close to the original. The drums were created in the Machinedrum and I synthesized each of those sounds.

The electric piano part was recorded in one pass (even if the camera changed angles). I needed to prove to myself that I could play this whole peice through. There is actually no MIDI data involved. Everything (apart from the drums) were played real-time by me.

This was a lot of fun to create, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Why this song? I have no idea - but I love it. I learned the whole thing in one night, but it took quite a while to figure out how to play it fast enough. I learned everything by ear. I can't read music well enough to do things that way, so some notes are probably wrong (but I don't think they are)."
