SONG:MODE - LaunchPad Edition - Walkthrough -Control Surface Script for Ableton Live
Published on Feb 20, 2020 Isotonik Studios
"SONG:MODE - LaunchPad Edition is a ew way of interacting with session view in Ableton Live.
To prepare your live set add (SONG1), (SONG2) to your scene names & use the colours of the scenes to give you a visual indication of their content.
Switch the LaunchPad into SONG:MODE and the top half of the button matrix will light up to give you a selection buttons for each of your named songs.
The bottom half will then switch to display all of the scenes that hold the same (SONG#) in their name. This then allows you to trigger or simply select the scene in question.
The benefit of focusing on your performance and not the screen, nor the need for rapid scrolling through your live set when you want to change the order of your songs will are you up to be even more creative in your performance.
Songs scenes are represented on the LaunchPad in the order they appear in your live set, however this doesn't mean that they have to be next to each other so you could split up your songs over many many scenes, perhaps have the main body of the song together and then a remix or reprise further down your set.
In this video I also demonstrate how you could use this tool with Dummy Clips, ClyphX Pro Binding actions or even to trigger an action to recall a VST preset on the fly.
