Fantasy Soundtracks Ep:3 'Body Snatchers' (Analog Synth)

DreamsOfWires

"3rd of a series of simple live jams inspired by some of my favourite vintage sci-fi and horror from the cinema and TV. I thought it'd be a fun idea to see what I can do with a simple setup, perhaps ony 2 analog synth voices, and modest digital effects. The synthesizer soundtracks of the 70's and early 80's were often very simple, spartan compositions, which is what made them special I think.

In this instance I'm using my AJH Eurorack modular synth to generate two voices: The first is some pink noise from the GLide + Noise module being processed by the Gemini dual filter, which is being used in 'Dual' mode, and modulated by the Dual LFO, then into a VCA. The second voice is 2 Transistor Core VCO's going into the ring modulator on the Entropic Doom, a third VCO going into the Ring SM, and then both are mixed in the Transistor Ladder filter then into a second VCA.

I saw both the 1978 and 1956 versions of 'Invasion fo the Body Snatchers' multiple times, and both scared me, but particularly the later version. Watching the '78 version again recently I was expecting the usual disappointment of an adult perspective, but I was pleasantly (or horrifically) suprised - I actually still found it an unsettling movie and well worth a watch.
