Ace of Spades on two DB-01 synths
video upload by Richard DeHove
"The Ace of Spades by Motorhead is a classic song with interesting little twists and turns. I especially like the intro and just for fun I tapped out the sequence. One thing led to another and soon I had most of the song. Didn't get as far as the solo since to go that far would really deserve a full multitrack effort. As t is having just two notes leads to some hard choices - especially since the bass by itself plays a lot of power chords!
I would have liked to have shown the sequences as they played through but unfortunately by chaining patterns together you have to stay in pattern mode :(
The track was done in a single take using only what you see here plus a compressor on the lead synth in post just to even things out.
Finally, if you're getting some weird ad on this video it may be because there's a copyright claim from some sausage company that sung over the top of the original Ace of Spades and now claims the melody as theirs ?! Strange days.
