"Oberheim OB-X8 synth demo featuring sounds, patches and presets. In this Oberheim OBX8 demo I showcase the new OB-X8 analog synth from Oberheim and demo a variety of sounds including pads, brass, plucks, arps, bass and more. Filmed at Sequential headquarters in San Francisco.
The Oberheim OB-X8 is a monster analog synth featuring 2 disecrete SEM/OB-X-lineage VCOs per voice. It has 8 voices, 2 oscillators (saw, square/pulse, triangle), noise, SEM and Curtis filters, bi-timbrality, LFOs, arpeggiator, 2 envelopes, velocity sensitivity, channel aftertouch, cross-modulation, portamento, unison, osc sync and more.
The Oberheim OB-X8 combines numerous vintage Oberheim models into a single unit including the OB-X, OB-Xa, OB-8 and OB-SX. The Oberheim OBX8 can put out massive and powerful sounds with huge low-end, creamy filter sweeps and bright and biting tones. It sounds fantastic for pads especially thanks to its wide stereo imaging.
I had the opportunity to try the Oberheim OB-X8 during a trip to San Francisco and visit to Sequential headquarters. It is very impressive in size and sound, and is truly an analog behemoth.
