SUPERBOOTH 2024: Tiptop Audio - Triax 8 & More
video upload by sonicstate
"At Superbooth 2024, Gur at Tiptop Audio showcased their latest innovations in the world of modular synthesis, introducing the range of new ART polyphonic modules and utilities that are set to revolutionize the way musicians interact with their modular systems. Vortex 6 *, a PPG Wave oscillator, *Octopass Poly Filter*, *Octostages Poly Envelope and Octogain are all set to begin shipping straight after Superbooth 2024.
All these polyphonic modules peak to each other using ART*, Tiptops polyphonic signal, and this signal travels through the *Polytip patch cords. Gur also revealed some new utilities, including *M*, a Polytip Mult.
Next Gur revealed the Triax8*, a fully analog polyphonic oscillator featuring 16 true analog oscillators designed by the renowned *Dave Rossum and his colleagues at SSI*. The *Triax8 offers a rich and diverse sound palette, allowing users to create anything from beautiful pads to classic vintage analog tones. The oscillator also boasts a linear FM with true zero, enabling users to experiment with frequency modulation and create complex and evolving sounds.
Triax 8 Available soon.
All prices can be found on the Tiptop Audio website.

Press announcment/release follows:
Polyphonic modular system:
Are you ready for a new chapter in modular synthesis? Soon after Superbooth we will announce preorders and start shipping the first set of the fully Polyphonic modules: Vortex6, Octopass, Octostages, Octogain, Octo I/O and the Polytip patch cables that are used to patch them.
Buchla and Tiptop Audio 200t systems:
Moving forward with our collaboration with Buchla we are demoing a complete 200t system at Superbooth. The system is housed in cool wood-like Mantis cases with a vintage touch. These systems will be available later this year.
Model 259t Programmable Complex Waveform Generator:
259t, the legendary complex oscillator is here in our racks at Superbooth and we are working to bring it to your rack too. The module is in its final stage of prototyping and we love the things this VCO can do. The original had 50% of its circuit for auto-tuning function which was never activated. The story goes that the 300 system controller computer, also never finished, was supposed to control the tuning of the 259. With the 259t, we finished the job, adding ART that activate the auto-tuning function so the 259t has both 1V/Oct CV and ART, so all original functionality has been preserved. And the sound? It is 1978 back again. Shipping is expected in October 2024
Model 285t Frequency Shifter:
This module is an analog frequency shifter and a balanced modulator, aka a ring modulator, in one module. It is an interesting module for making all kinds of sounds and noises. It also does interesting things to vocals and drums, as well as pairing nicely with the 296t. This one took a great deal of time to develop as the frequency shifter is built around an expensive and rare type of analog multiplier chip. Luckily, a similar chip with slightly better specs is still made today, and we were able to use it in this module. The estimated MSRP price is $350. Shipping is expected in August 2024.
Triax8 Eight Voice Triangle Core Polyphonic Oscillator:
This is by far the most technologically advanced gear we've ever made. It is an 16-analog-oscillator polyphonic module with ART control, Polytip patch points, and 3.5mm standard jacks creating an analog polyphonic oscillator. The two VCOs per voice generate a total of eight voices to pair with our other polyphonic modules. And when we say analog oscillators, we mean cutting-edge analog design using Dave Rossum and his colleagues' oscillator chips, combined with our state-of-the-art PCB layout and precise tuning firmware to unlock the truly outstanding sound of these analog cores. The result is a stunningly beautiful analog poly that can make classic vintage synth sounds, or use the TZ linear FM for wild yet controlled FM sounds like bells and much more that cannot be accurately put into words. This monster is expected in November 2024.
Octovert:
Polyphonic attenuverter plus offset for another building block in the polyphonic project adding the capability to invert scale and offset polyphonic CV and audio. We love these functions in mono now just imagine what that can do in poly. The estimated MSRP price is $150. Shipping is expected in July 2024.
VC-Resonator, mirror mirror on the wall, which resonator is the best of them all? Resonators shine with polyphonic sounds, so it was time for us to make one. Through our investigations we found the resonator of the Polymoog to be the most lush sounding one. The problem was that it didn’t have voltage control, so with some help from Neil Johnson of AES UK, we solved that puzzle and came up with a beautifully lush sounding resonator that is simple to use, has VC over everything, and is reasonably priced. Taking the mix audio out from Vortex6 into the resonator then into Zeverb and you get a world of drones and pads. The estimated MSRP price is $245. Shipping is expected in July 2024.
M Module, yep, M = Mult, and this module is a Polytip Mult module with 5 jacks in 4HP. Simple and easy and does the job. It’s fully passive and needs no power. The estimated MSRP price is $55. Shipping is expected in June 2024
