Since the release of my LPFC01 filter control upgrade for the emu sp12 and SP1200, I have had a few people ask about the SP1200 final edition and it's non ssm filters. The final edition uses a daughter board that contains four lm13600 chips and it's surface mount circuits. This version of the SP1200 is much less desirable due to the sonic differences that came with this filter change, and the daughter board also means that none of my upgrades can be added. A customer of mine had a final edition and wanted to have the spm04, OB01, and lpfc01 fitted, so I decided to look at the modification. (Picture 1) the filter daughter board inserted in the sockets for the ssm2144 chips. (Picture 2) the bottom of the pcb showing green jumper wires added for routing the daughter board. Step 1: Unplug the lm13600 pcb and put it to one side Step 2: Remove the motherboard from the sp1200 and remove the green wires shown in picture 2 Step 3: remove all solder from the unpopulated components surrounding the filter chip sockets Step 4: remove the jumper wires on C164, C165, R97, & R125. Once this is done it should look like (picture 3) Step 5: resistors R114, R117, R123, R124, R126, R127 all need removing as they are not the original value needed for the ssm. See (picture 4) Once all this is done it should look like picture 5. The following components need putting in these locations R132 - 200R R126 - 200R R123 - 33k R116 - 4.7k C130 -820pf C124 - 0.01uf R140 - 3.3k R133 - 1k R134 - 1k R127 - 15k C137 470pf C125 - 0.01uf C136 - 0.01uf R113 - 390R R102 - 39k R97 - 15k R89 - 220k C142 - 470pf R124 - 15k R117 - 200R R114 - 33k R111 - 4.7k R103 - 200R R125 - 15k R118 - 390R R112 - 39k R104 - 220k C119 - 820pf C118 - 0.01uf R141 - 3.3k C143 - 0.01uf C131 - 0.01uf C164 - 10uf 35v tantalum C165 - 10uf tantalum.
