Details via Plugin Boutique & Softube:
The most expressive synth of its time, redesigned.
The authentic sound, interactions, and performance of three famed Japanese hardware units from 1977
A redesigned, intuitive new interface for an improved and modern workflow
Three versions included: the instrument, seven modules for Modular, and two modules for Amp Room
Model 77 Dual Layer Synth gives you one of the most influential sounds of our time. It is the iconic sound of Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire, Billie Jean, Africa, and Human Nature — among countless others. Softube modeled and accurately articulated every detail of the circuits of three legendarily expressive Japanese synthesizers from 1977 and put them in one user-friendly plug-in. The sound, interaction, and performance remain as close to the hardware as possible, while the complex interfaces of the original instruments are enhanced with an intuitive redesign. Finally, your most-coveted synth has the workflow you deserve.
The Art of Rock & Roll Science
Softube's reputation for creating tools that enhance workflow and offer superior sound quality is rock solid. Their partnerships with premium brands like Tube-Tech, Solid State Logic, Chandler Limited, Weiss Engineering, and Trident have spanned decades.
They built Model 77 Dual Layer Synth on this legacy of passion, expert modeling, and attention to detail. Because to create synth plug-ins that innovate and elevate, you have to have heart, soul, and Rock & Roll Science.
Time for a redesign
When designing Model 77, Softube took great care to create a more efficient user interface that makes the plug-in easier to navigate. Two layers are accessible directly from the front panel, but the focus stays on one layer at a time. This improvement enables you to adjust your sound quickly and confidently. Softube also redesigned the position of the sections to communicate the instrument's proper signal flow. A change that helps facilitate sound design. Now, the Ring Mod section on the interface corresponds to its location in the signal flow. The balance slider is between the upper and lower layers so that you can self-assuredly move between the layers while adjusting
parameters for each layer.
Recall classic sounds
With presets that can be heard on countless incredible recordings, Softube had to include all the original factory presets for all three synthesizers with Model 77. In addition to the Single Layer Presets, Model 77 features Dual Layer Presets, which allow you to recreate classic sounds through the combination of the upper and lower presets that were so famously used.
Modern features
More than a strict model, Model 77 has added features and workflow enhancements – like stereo processing and DAW sync – that ensure its authenticity integrates seamlessly into modern productions. Softube provided an Aging Slider for vintage vibes, such as oscillator drift and variations over filter cutoff, pulse width, and envelope time. This addition lets you adjust between a stable modern sound and a more vintage, aged sound. The new
stereo algorithmic reverb allows you to reproduce the sound of classic hits. The Reverb Slider controls both dry/wet and the decay time of the reverb to give you an expressive parameter for performance.
Tip! Polyphonic Aftertouch
Model 77 is the first of Softube's nstruments to support true Polyphonic Aftertouch for some of the parameters featured in the Expanded View. Although the instrument truly benefits from a MIDI keyboard compatible with Polyphonic Aftertouch, don’t worry if you don’t have it. Model 77 also supports normal aftertouch.

System Requirements
macOS Big Sur 11, Monterey 12, Ventura 13
Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 11
Softube account
iLok account
Computer with AU, VST, VST3, and/or AAX-compatible DAW host software
Internet access (for downloading installers and managing licenses)
Supported CPU Families
Apple macOS computers with Intel Core i3/i5/i7 or Apple silicon (M1 or newer) CPU. Apple silicon is supported natively.
Windows computers with quad-core Intel Core i3/i5/i7 or AMD quad-core processors with SSE 4.2 support.
Other Intel processors (Celeron, Pentium, and Xeon) are compatible if they support SSE 4.2 instructions.
Supported Host Software (DAW)
Any 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, or AAX (Pro Tools 11.0.2 or higher) compatible host application should work. However, due to plug-in host differences between DAWs—and our rigorous standards—Softube only officially test their plug-ins and instruments in the most recent versions of Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Studio One, and Reaper. Softube plug-ins are not tested regularly in non-listed systems. They will likely work if the system requirements are met. However, the manufacturer cannot guarantee a solution for issues in unsupported systems.
Softube strongly recommend using VST3, as some of their plug-ins have features that are not present in the older VST format. Supported sample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz, in both mono and stereo. The most recent maintenance release of your DAW application is recommended. AAX DSP is not currently in active development. TDM/VENUE/RTAS are no longer supported. See Legacy Installers.
Important Note: Make sure that you always use the latest iLok License Manager. It is not included in the Softube installer but can be downloaded from www.ilok.com

DeleteI only wonder why it is that decades old synth sounds are sold as being suitable for those who only play decades old music. Not that much being played these days could be mistaken for music.
