"The ARP 2601 v2.0 is a landmark analog synthesizer and an essential piece of the ARP legacy. Released between 1977 and 1980, this version introduced the striking orange-on-black panel design and the updated 4072 low-pass filter, known for its smooth and musical tone. Paired with the 3620 duophonic keyboard, the 2601 v2.0 delivers expressive control and legendary analog sound in a semi-modular format.

Designed for professionals yet accessible for learners, the 2601 v2.0 offered an alternative to the more complex and costly modular synths of the era. With its pre-wired architecture, it’s easy to get started right out of the box, but also features clearly labeled patch points for deep custom routing and experimentation.

Its architecture includes:

Three analog oscillators
4-pole 4072 low-pass filter
ADSR envelope
VCA and mixer section
Ring modulator
Sample & hold
Noise generator
Envelope follower
Built-in spring reverb
Preamp with stereo speakers
The included ARP 3620 keyboard adds duophonic capabilities, portamento, and an onboard LFO with gate triggering options—making it a flexible controller for real-time performance and modulation."
