The CS-80 was Yamaha's flagship synthesizer, and was at the top of the line of their CS-series. Only 800 units were produced during it's short production run between 1977-1980. It was discontinued in 1980 due to the high cost and complexity involved in its production, and being outsold in the market by smaller, more affordable and advanced polyphonic synthesizers.
This CS-80 is in beautiful shape for it's age, and shows only light signs of use across it's front panel. The only major blemishes are a small crack near the right side of the memory panel, and some small scratches under the aftertouch control faders - very minor and almost unnoticable. This is an excellent working and sounding unit and every knob, slider, and button is functioning perfectly. The aftertouch and ribbon strip are both working perfectly, and make this arguably the most expressive synthesizer ever made.
This unit is serial number #1705, making it the 704th CS-80 to come off the production line and approximates its production year to 1980."
