"The Drone Lab is a 4 voice analog drone synth, rhythm generator and FX processor. The Lab has an external input with pre amp which accepts audio signals from any audio source including microphone, guitar, keyboard and other Drone Labs. External signals can be mixed with the existing drone and run through the lab’s filter and distortion circuits.

The Lab also features a clock interface which allows the internal rhythm clock to be linked with a variety of external clocks."

  1. I picked up a partialy built one of these about 8 years ago. It's a pretty simple kit to assemble actually. Not sure what caused the original owner to bail.
The interesting thing to me is how it works with clock. There are basically two groups A & B. When it's running it will alternate between whats on group A or B. So you can put 2 Oscs on each, 3 +1 or 4+0. Then each voice has a clock division knob. So you can get multiple rhythms going pretty quickly. The only real drawback to this is that the voices are triangle core, so not a very distinct edge to the notes. Which can make it hard to hear the notes as distinct rhythms and not just a vague sound.
But there is a small space for DIYing. It should be easy to add a waveshaper to a couple voices and get a saw or square.
