Patching Rests with VCAs

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"Pete from the Make Noise Instagram channel here, filling in this week with a video all about VCAs and silence... sort of (and also not really).

In this video I share three different patches for introducing rests and dynamic modulation using (1) a Maths + TEMPI combination, (2) a 0-Coast + 0-CTRL pairing and (3) an X-PAN + Ch.Svr duo.

Timestamps:
0:00 - introduction
1:07 - the Binary Zone
2:05 - a Binary Zone-inspired John Blacet tribute patch with Maths + TEMPI
5:30 - a "one-cable" 0-CTRL patch
8:20 - an X-PAN + Ch.Svr 'balanced modulator' patch (two variations)
15:27 - outro

As promised throughout the video, below are links for further reading/viewing:

1. the footage of me at a synth meetup in 2009 is courtesy of Scooter McCrae (thanks Scooter!), and the full video from that event can be found on his YouTube channel: • Muff Wiggler Forum July 2009 Gathering [posted here]

2. the manual for the Blacet Binary Zone can be found here: https://archive.org/details/manualzil...

3. an archive of the Binary Zone page on the Blacet website can be found here: https://web.archive.org/web/200310020...

4. The forum post where Grant Richter first shared the "balanced modulator" patch for his XMix module can be found on Page 1 of this thread: https://www.modwiggler.com/forum/view...
