Additional demos below.

"What happens if we pair an ENV1 Cyclical Function Generator module with our FIL4 Timbral Sculptor, the super-flexible Westlicht Performer sequencer and a slinky Eventide Space reverb? Watch this video and find out - it's a ton of fun.

2:17 - a basic kick
4:13 - using the Loop input
5:30 - extra modulation from the CFG
6:22 - modulating the modulation
7:48 - wavefolding the kick
8:54 - more sequencing

Future Sound Systems ENV1 CFG and FIL4 Bassline Synthesizer demo

video upload by Future Sound Systems

"In this video, the ENV1 CFG and FIL4 Timbral Sculptor are paired together to make a compact, simple-but-flexible synth voice. The Westlicht Performer provides the sequencing, whilst the Eventide Space provides reverb on the main output.

0:55 - basic tracking test
1:27 - gating the CFG's Loop input
2:36 - adding an envelope to the FIL4's Cutoff
3:44 - modulating the Cutoff Decay's time
5:08 - using the FIL4's VCA and wavefolder
7:37 - mixing in the FIL4's band-pass state"

Tying together the FSS voice in Eurorack? Exploring the ENV1 CFG...

video upload by Future Sound Systems

"Presenting the ENV1 Cyclical Function Generator Eurorack module from Future Sound Systems. Each ENV1 module provides two CFGs, originally designed for our Cric standalone synthesiser.

0:40 - a 'basic' voice
2:19 - using the CFG as a sub-divider
3:17 - sequencing a CFG's Decay time
4:17 - using a CFG as an LFO
6:16 - back to sub-dividing, at audio rate
8:22 - listening to the sub more clearly
9:05 - controlling the sub's tracking
9:55 - listening to the sub's Pulse output
11:11 - jamming out.."

ENV1 Cyclical Function Generator

Dual function generator module

The ENV1 from Future Sound Systems presents two Cyclical Function Generators, originally designed for Cric. Each CFG features:

an Attack and Decay stage
different shape modes for the two stages (linear, exponential or logarithmic)
modulation over each stage's time
a Pulse output, switchable between an End of Decay pulse or a Comparator output which goes high when the CFG slope is above 50% of its total range
three modes of operation - looping, attack/decay and attack/sustain/decay
a Loop input, coupled with jumpers on the rear of the module to also force each CFG to trigger on an incoming pulse to this input
The CFG has been designed to cover a wide time range for both attack and decay stages, with their minimum times resulting in oscillations in the kHz range, up to their maximum times of several minutes per stage for a single cycle.

The Pulse source derived from each CFG can be switched between End of Decay (EoD) or Comp. In EoD mode, a brief trigger is sent as soon as the Decay stage has completed. This can be used to chain several CFGs together in a sequential fashion. Meanwhile, in Comp mode, a comparator sends a pulse which is high as long as the Slope is above the midpoint of its range, and low when it is beneath this midpoint. With Attack and Decay set to produce a perfectly
triangular slope, a 50:50 square wave will be generated in Comp mode.

The CV Depth attenuverters follow the law that, for a positive voltage source at the corresponding destination, negative settings (anti-clockwise from 12 o’clock) reduce the stage times and positive settings (clockwise from 12 o’clock) extend the stage times. Without a jack present at the corresponding input, the CV Depth control becomes a fine tune for each stage, which is particularly useful if using the CFG as an audible oscillator.

As with many "West coast" inspired function generators, each CFG can cover a plethora of use cases:

low-frequency oscillator
envelope generator
frequency sub-divider / sub-harmonic generator
audio oscillator
pulse-train generator
gate/trigger delay and monostable
