Audiotool pulverisateur

via Dan303

It looks like Hobnox's Audiotool will feature a new synth called pulverisateur. If you are not familiar with Audiotool, check it out here. Think of is as online VSTs of classic gear including Roland TR-808, TR-909, TB-303 and effects.

They have also added Tone Matrix based on the monome 256. Fun stuff.

aM laboratory ToneMatrix, Karplus-Strong Guitar, ToneWheels and More

Online instruments by via Andre Michelle. Start with ToneMatrix and then click on the Karplus-Strong Guitar at the bottom right of the matrix, followed by ToneWheels.

ToneMatrix:
"Simple sinewave synthesizer triggered by an ordinary 16step sequencer. Each triggered step causes a force on the underlaying wave-map, which makes it more cute."

Karplus-Strong Guitar
"This is a Karplus-Strong algorithm implementation, synthesizing a 6-sided guitar without any sample material in AS3. The result is simply amazing and there is still room for tweaking. The guitar body is just simulated by two mixed in low-pass filter with resonance. Also the sequencer is static at the moment. However you have some controls over the general playing characteristics We will develop the guitar for the [hobnox] AudioTool. Thus no sources this time."

ToneWheels
"The particles have their own note value, while the wheels affect their octave. Drag them all to alter the melody."

Hobnox Audiotool - Jam Session

YouTube via Zimboltor
"I found this about 2 days ago, the sound quality on this video does not do any justice to the actual sound quality, since I recorded this live my computer lags pretty badly you will hear the audio stuttering. You also may hear the drums really clash with the music, while recording I didn't hear this, (stupid Camtasia studio, taking up all my computers resources) It is really fun to use though, if you want to try it out go to http://www.hobnox.com/index.1056.de.html
I do assume that this film will be in HD, so make sure you watch it in HD! Comment, Rate, Subscribe! PS. Sorry about the performance, its not that great, if you want you can post a video response to this with your better recorded jam session! Oh and I know the video tags are amazing. Oh one more thing, the original was 12 minutes long so I had to cut the other 2 minutes, this is why the video starts without me actually making the drum on the TR-909, Setting up the cables for the Tube drive etc. Also to all the 8 subscribers I have I am working on original material for FL studio and hope to release it soon, right now im waiting for an midi keyboard. Oh and the great thing about Hobnox's Audiotool is it is all in flash! Thats right if you have flash you can start making music just like this video (but better of course)"

Mix it up old school with this Flash/browser-based Audiotool for making beats. http://www.hobnox.com/ [audio tools when you get there]

Simulating the popular Roland TR-909 and TB-303 with additional effects using pedals and rumored upcoming MIDI support."

"Playing around with the Hobnox Audio Tool:
http://www.hobnox.com/audiotool-start...

My computer screwed up a bit here and there, but i think it sounds pretty good. I made the beats and the bass line myself, the picture used throughout is the setup I had by the end. This is cut down from a 9 minute version by the way."

New Release of Hobnox Audio Tool Coming

If you haven't check out the hobnox Audio Tool yet, do it.

In short, it's a flash based online studio consisting of what you see here. Roland TR-808, TR-909, TB-303, effects, mixer, and more.

A new release will be coming when Adobe Flash 10 is released.

As for the update, here is the sneak peak:
For a start, the Hobnox Audiotool Beta update will provide some new features like more robust audio signal processing, dynamically adding plugins and live recording. We also worked hard to prepare the application for future features like sequencing and saving. Here is a detailed list of the new features and some technical notes.

+ Flashplayer 10 support
We may be the first to 'force' you to upgrade to Flashplayer 10, but it is for the best! Adobe finally provides a tiny new Sound API to stream audio to the sound card. Finally we get rid of the Java applet which enabled audio streaming before. Now, entirely processed in Flash, the audio latency is more satisfying and the output more stable. You simply get a better experience.

+ Live Recording
The tool will also finally allow to record a live audio session to the users harddrive: WYHIWYG (What you hear is what you get). We transcoded a Vorbis Encoder (better quality than MP3) to Actionscript to shrink the filesize of the recorded audio in order for you to upload it into your user profile library. We can't wait to hear what you guys will be producing and are really excited about this development.

+ Plugin Shelf
Have a look at the above screenshot. In the page bottom you will see a 'Dock'-like shelf. With this you'll have full control of the plugins you want to use. You'll be able to drag & drop plugins into and from the shelf. You'll only see the devices you want to use and not the full inital setup like before.

+ New stomp-boxes
To give more spice to the sound we developed some new effect devices like
Compressor, Gate, Phaser and a Slope (Filter unit).

+ Tons of optimizations and code refactoring
Finally, we have managed to make some hidden technical improvements. The entire audio engine and surface is revised to be ready for coming features like sequencing and saving. An intelligent music event system allows us to quickly add new sequencing units and automation. We are also ready to develop low-level modules which will allow you to create your own synthesizers and effects. Finally, the internal signal processing API has been simplified and it the fastest that Flash can provide at this state.

Hobnox Audiotool Updates - Roland TR-808 Added

via hobnox
"Just a quick note that we just rolled out an update of the Hobnox Audiotool. As promised the TR808 is now online, along with two new stompboxes (Compressor and Bitcrusher) and some enhanced functions. Saving is still not possible yet, we’re working hard to make it happen for the next update."

If you haven't checked this out yet, do it. It is pretty amazing.

Hobnox

follow-up to this post. The sound is Hobnox, the cubes are Percussa's Audio Cubes.

Some notes on Hobnox (be sure to see the What's Next section at the end):
"Hobnox is an international online entertainment platform that unites broadcast quality media with social networking and cutting edge technology. With a focus on an enriched new open media experience, it is the space where today’s entertainment market meets the technical possibilities of the web.

We developed flashbased software to produce music online and in the browser. A demo version is available now.

The key differentiator to other browser based tools is a dynamic audio engine that allows real time audio composition. From our perspective this is unique software that is ahead of its time. We currently use Flash 9 and Java, although Java will be replaced as soon as Flash 10 is available.

As you will experience, use of the tool is very intuitive and fun and we think that the tool could be of interest for you.

Access the Audiotool directly by clicking on following link (please make sure to have Java installed as it will ask you to trust the certificate):
http://www.hobnox.com/index.1056.en.html

The Audiotool:
The Hobnox Audiotool is like an endless virtual sound desk and lets you easily connect the different devices through cables – like the software ‚Reason’. You’ll find virtual replicas of the legendary Roland 909 drum computer, two 303 bass synthesizers, a mixer and a series of effect pedals.

You will hear that the sound is practically identical with its originals - Roland also confirmed this.

Effect pedals include: D-Tune, Delay, Pitch Delay, Reverb, Equaliser and Flanger. You can easily choose your set-up by connecting the devices by dragging and dropping cables.

What’s next:
We will update the tool in a couple of days by adding the 808 drum computer and a Compressor. Also we improved the handling of the different devices. The next release scheduled for Summer 08 will include a timeline to enable precise arrangement and composition as well as a save function for files and set-ups. We will add more instruments along the way and hope to make multiuser-production a reality soon."
