How To Make Music With Nuclear Research Equipment | SRS BOXCAR AVERAGER

video by HAINBACH

"In which I show you the secrets of the SRS Boxcar Averager, a Nuclear Instrumentation Modular (NIM BIN) with roots in the 1950s. Designed to separate signal from noise in pulsed nuclear experiments, the Boxcar is a very musical and fantastic sounding modular synth. It can sing on its own, even sequence itself in a non-bleepy bloopy way. As a processing tool it is fantastic and I know nothing out there that does what it does, and it is great for rhythms, as discovered by Dennis Verschoor of the Waveform Research Center.
