Video showing more of the keyboard's expressive possibilities shot by Garnet Willis at Noisetree Studios in Toronto. This is the first video showing the Terpstra in a professional production studio, where Garnet uses it for composition and performance for film, TV, and dance. You'll notice that velocity sensitivity is clear in the composition. Enjoy, and thanks Garnet!

The Terpstra is available for a limited period, in a limited amount and at a fraction of the market price - limited edition, unique chance to own one!

Discovering the Terpstra Keyboard prototype

Some of you might recognize the Terpstra from this previous post way back in 2006.

via Indiegogo: "Only two prototypes of this keyboard were ever made and we're raising money to bring the project back to life - improved and packed with amazing new features."

Part 1/2 is about the keyboard layout and shows why the Terpstra is 12 times easier to learn and play than the classical keyboard, by taking a look at the definition of a generalized or isomorphic keyboard: an instrument having the keys arranged in a symmetrical manner, so that notes occupying the same relative position always make the same interval with each other.

A generalized keyboard makes it possible for any passage, chord, or combination of any kind, to have exactly the same form under the fingers, in whatever key it is played - not only for the standard tuning of 12 notes per octave, but also for any traditional tuning system (indian, arabic, chinese, etc) and any other microtonal layout.

The Terpstra Keyboard was an American Festival of Microtonal Music production made with support from Maldeb Foundation. Only 2 prototypes were ever made. It is available for a limited period, in a limited amount and at a fraction of the market price at:
