"What does an arcade sound like when you listen to its light?
🔊 Music by Dayshade
Join us for an electromagnetic listening walk through Walton Pier Arcade, exploring the hidden rhythms and unexpected sounds of its colourful machines, flashing lights and illuminated displays using the **Photon Smasher Nano**.
The Photon Smasher Nano is a small, highly directional device that transforms changing light into sound. Unlike a conventional microphone, it listens to light rather than vibrations in the air, revealing a hidden world of pulses, patterns, rhythms and textures that would otherwise go unheard.
Over this 11-minute soundwalk, we get curious with the electromagnetic landscape of the arcade, moving between machines and discovering how different light sources create their own distinctive sonic signatures.
