Techno From Scratch, Let's RUMBLE on the Digitakt

video upload by EZBOT

"We're about to embark on an exciting journey as we craft techno music entirely from scratch. Our creative arsenal includes the Octatrack MK2, Digitakt, Digitone, and Syntakt, all working in harmony to produce some mind-bending sounds.

What adds an extra layer of magic to our performance today is my newest Octatrack template "'Techno Performance Mixer 1.0.1,' the latest addition to my Patreon offerings and soon to be available on Ko-Fi. This performance template for the Octatrack not only provides master clocking, 8 bar auto-modulated effects, 8 bar loops, and many other features that will undoubtedly take our music to the next level.

Our journey begins with a rumbling foundation, achieved through a unique resampling technique. We'll also be diving into an intriguing side-chain ducking trick, which I shared with you all last week. It's going to be an immersive and educational experience, so let's get started and delve into the world of techno creation.

Dual Octatrack Madness: Granular Sampling Is Wild

video upload by EZBOT

"What's better than one Octatrack? Two, of course. In today's live stream we use my battery powered Octatrack run the Octacosm project which will be processing the OP-1 Field. The Octacosm is an Octatrack Template that turns the Octatrack into a granular effects processor which is great for processing synthesizers. Arturia Microfreak: This out-there little music machine features a versatile digital oscillator so you can create rare and interesting sounds with ease. Modes like Wavetable, KarplusStrong, Harmonic OSC, and Superwave give adventurous musicians the chance to explore totally new, unheard possibilities. Elektron Octatrack MKII: More than a sampler .Discovering the perfect sample is the start of the process. Then twist it, mess around with it and rebuild it into something uniquely yours. The Octatrack MKII sets new standards for sampling as an art form.

The Octatrack MKII brings enormous sample processing ability into a machine designed for live performance. It redefines how you transform your sounds, as well as how you interact and play with them. It lets you do things that were previously impossible with a single instrument.

Record samples in real time. Add live time-stretching and pitch-shifting. Use the sequencer to control both internal sounds and external MIDI gear. The Octatrack MKII can also be treated as a small mixing desk for your whole setup. The immediate control makes all the difference.

The crossfader adds immense depth to your sound. First, choose how you want it to affect your samples. Then nudge the crossfader gently for the most subtle and natural-sounding changes – or knock it back and forth like you’re scratching for rapid and extreme enhancements.

Octatrack Hybrid 4X4 Performance Mixer by EZBOT (v1.2)

video upload by EZBOT

"This new template for the Octatrack Mk1/Mk2 includes classic techno effects and many experimental effects inspired by the Hyper FX template and Performance Mixer 3.0, though none of the effects are quite the same. The superpower of this template is the 4X4, which has multiple meanings. 64 performance effects in total and 4 tracks for audio processing. A total powerhouse!

First, four Free Flex Tracks are preassigned and ready for sampling. They are prepared on all parts across all banks and patterns. The flex tracks can and should be routed through the Hybrid 4X4 template's effects via the CUE output and back into the Octatrack inputs.

Second, the effects are set up in four blocks of four effect types. These effect types are consistent across all PARTS. The PARTS are named EARTH, AIR, FIRE, and WATER.

Octatrack Meets the XOR NerdSEQ: 24 Patterns of Pure Nostalgic Bliss

video by EZBOT

"This was my live performance for Basement State on 6/4/21. I built a template for the Octatrack that was a mix of live resampling/fx-box and a typical drum machine. The music is very cheerful, someone in chat said the music was an "anti-depressant." I played with Red Means Recording, Project 32, and Herr Shield. Amazing performances all around.
