Wintherstormer Custom Modular

"I am fortunate enough to have some original R.A. Moog modular modules from 1969. They were in terrible condition, but after one year of complete restoration, including numerous help from a lot of people around the world, they are now fully restored. They were originally housed in an ugly metal enclosure, and needed a few aditional modules to become a complete synth, so I bought a brand new cabinet and some moog-looking modules from Roger Arrick at Synthesizers.com, and added a MOTM quad LFO from Paul Schreiber at Synthesis Technology to complete the system. I now have a very good-looking and superbly sounding modular synth."

Roland Jupiter-8 Synth, 1983

flickr by euthman

"This metal-clad eight-voice monstrosity was extremely powerful for its time, but it was an unreliable beast, crashing spontaneously, one time in the middle of a gig. I shipped it to Roland in California twice for repairs, but the crashes continued.

I paid $4600 for it back around 1981, I think. I finally gave it away to my teenage next-door neighbor, who grew up to be a professional musician, serving as Mandy Moore's music director for one of her tours."

Before any rumors start, note that Jupiter-8s for the most part are actually considered to be super reliable.
