tiction experiment 1

YouTube via organofqwerty
"My first attempt at a Tiction piece, triggering various instruments in Live 8.
Thanks to Hans Kuder for making a very cool thing."

"Tiction is a flexible, nodal music sequencer.

It’s pretty simple: Each node represents an event, and a connection from one node to the next triggers the next event after a certain number of tics. Nodes send MIDI note messages and/or MIDI controller change messages when triggered. Connecting nodes in a circuit lets you start a repeating pattern when one of the nodes is triggered.

A node can change its pitch and controller values based on its position on the screen. When a node is triggered, it performs some physical action: either repelling or attracting other nearby nodes, or nudging itself in a random direction. The physical interaction between nodes allows you to construct complex, rhythmic melodies and effects without having to draw filter envelopes or touch a traditional sequencer."

"Granada", a drum machine, and some cupcakes.

"Some of you may wonder what this baking story has to do with "Granada" and "Lay love on you".
But when Daft Punk can do a techno video about making pasta sauce ("Revolution 909") I can very well make an organ video about making cupcakes!
The drum machine is a Roland CR-68, the organ is a Yamaha HE-8 and I also used the little Viscount RBX-850 organ and the Roland JX-8P synthesizer."

Super Pig!

YouTube via bigcitymusic
"We were going for the ultimate Pigtronix Mothership Guitar Synth patch. This is what we came up with!

Besides our lack of good time this setup is incredibly fun. We used every Pigtronix pedal except the awesome Philosopher's Tone Compressor and the brutal PolySaturator distortion.

This is a pure squarewave synth tone from the MGS, no dry guitar. The AttackSustain really pulls the guitar synth patch together. It's an audio triggered envelope with variable attack and decay times. The Disnortion sounds so cool we had to turn all three, overdrive, fuzz and octave-up on. The EP-1 is doing a super-slow phase while the Echolution is giving us a cool modulated slapback echo.

Super Pig!"

Signal Arts midi analog sequencer

via this auction

"Signal Arts analog midi sequencer/midi to CV converter. it's very flexible and will work with any modular or synth or CV/gate analog gear and will also sequence any midi gear or send midi back to your computer or do all of those at the same time! it's on e seriously flexible beast that can very easily be configured to work in any way you want. It's the most solid midi/cv converter i've ever used and functions in that capacity very well.

it also has some sophisticated and unique sequencing abilities. you can modulate one sequence with another, chain sequences, run in pendullum mode, run sequences in parallel sync'd to different timings or running free, trigger sequences form midi notes and much more!
it has several different trigger modes and built in slew or portamento for notes and also controller data and polyphonic use (depending on your synth of course)
3 CV outputs (configurable to V/oct or Hz/octave to support a wide variety of older synths for example korg MS-20 MS-10 etc)
3 gate outputs (switchable to S-trig for moogs! see pics of back panel)
clock input
clock output
din sync out put for older roland machines (303, 606, 202 etc)
1 midi in
2 midi outs (one switchable to a midi thru see pics for back panel
