Different organ styles are available with independent adjustment of the voices' volume to perfectly suit the organist's needs, while the keyboard is carefully crafted to reproduce the touch of a real pipe organ. "Most certainly a modern classic synth, this OB-12 is in amazing condition, considering it is 22 years old. Made in Italy by Viscount (who also made Vox organs in the 1960s)/Galanti family business, the synth was a "joint venture", legally using the Oberheim brand for marketing. The initial launch was a disaster, and the UK price tumbled from circa £2000 down to £499 through the 5-years of manufacture (2000-2005). Was it synth snobbery? (ah, I aint buying no Italian Oberheim...not a real one, dude.....).Was it bad sounding? Did it look naff? The years passed, then a few stalwart synth enthusiasts realised that the OB-12 was actually years ahead of its time. It actually IS reliable (apart from the display screen, but replacements are available). It actually can sound HUGE, and has many features that have to be highlighted. KKGB have also bothered to print off the 160-page manual; which IS very good and informative SPECS:- 256 fully programmable memory slots (128A & 128B), 12-voice poly with velocity and pressure (49 keys) ~ 4-part multi-timbral and key zoning ~ arpeggiator ~ sequencer ~ FM ~ morphing function ~ glide ~ white noise ~ ring modulation ~ 24Db filter (put the twin 12Dbs in series<>same thing) ~ 4 discreet FX (delay/reverb/chorus/distortion) ~ twin wheels (pitch/mod) ~ ribbon controller ~ global-auto voltage select (90V > 260Vac) with standard IEC mains cord (no naff external PSus) ~two banks of digital oscillators with great selection of waveforms ~ excellent "live" display which portrays editing etc ~ only 12Kgs ~ dims 92 x 39 x 12 cms...serial number 2083801. Condition of this actual instrument is 95% perfect, with only eeny dinks/scratches; the keys are nigh perfect and trigger every time. The pressure/aftertouch offers remarkable control of many features; its astonishing......"

4/15/24 Viscount R-64s PCM + Peavey 1300 + DBX 900 (3x 905/903) + Lexicon PCM 70 (small room)
video upload by Cfpp0
"In boca al lupo, ragazza. Ciao! A final test of the recently serviced, perfectly working, very rare, and wonderfully Italian Viscount R-64s PCM 8-bit drum machine before packing it up and sending it off to its new owner. Mix out goes mono to a Mackie submixer to the DBX 900, going through one 905/903 into the next 905/903, with an aux send from the Mackie out to the Peavey 1300 delay going to a third 905/903 set. Those two signals then go to two channels on the Mackie Onyx 1640 mixer, with Lexicon PCM 70 small room reverb on an aux."

ESK - Akai MPC 5000 Delay Looping 2
video upload by Metunar
"Looping session with an old Viscount R64S PCM drumcomputer, ASM Hydrasynth and an Akai MPC 5000 Sampler.
Was again a lot of fun to do this video.
What I did is to use the 4 effect buses of the MPC 5000 with delays with high feedback. So it’s like a 4 channel looper. Interesting is to change the delay time, that results in some digital stutter effect, which are nice.
My Viscount R64S (same as R64) doesn’t work with sync (needs s-trigger clock), so i started and set the tempo manually. Furthermore I used a Filter after the Viscount R64S, because the 50Hz hum was quite loud.
But I like a lot the sounds and the preset beats of this sample drummachine.
No external effects, only soft mastering.

2/23/24 (DEMO) Viscount R-64s PCM 8-bit drum machine (snare output to delay) + Peavey DDL-3
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Cfpp0
"This 8-bit Viscount R-64s Italian drum machine just got back from being serviced and is working perfectly. In this video you can see that there are knobs for individual and grouped drum sounds, buttons for cancelling groups of drums, adding or removing the Clap sound, and adding fills. Two or three of the many preset patterns are used. Stereo outputs hard panned in a mixer, so you can hear the machine’s stereo separation. Snare out to the Peavey DDL-3 pedal, panned center."
via this auction
"This Viscount R64S drum machine was made in 1980s Italy, and is much more than a typical “rhythm machine”. It has great 8-bit sample-based drum sounds, can do Techno or hip hop, can waltz and swing, and has 16 TR-808-style buttons to select preset patterns, each with four variations (select 1-4).
With the R-64S and a delay pedal you don’t even need music, but it plays well with others. This has an internal clock and a CLOCK OUT. It also has a CLOCK IN! I used Pamela’s New Workout on it. It has a stereo output, with panning. The snare drum has its own output!"

the pollard syndrum was one of the first commercially available electronic drums. this is the syndrum twin, sometimes called the twindrum - a beautiful drum synthesizer (brain) from 1976 which was part of an electronic drum kit. joe pollard was a session drummer working for the beach boys and other bands.3. honky tonk music klone kit
sound demo of the quirky klone kit control module. made in the uk 1983 it was a cheap 5 voice alternative to other popular but expensive e-drum solutions of that time. all channels are identical except the snare channel which offers noise. the sound is very limited - followed up by the more flexible klone kit 2. since there's no demo of version 1 I decided to shoot a quick video with proper audio. retail was 299 ukp.4. elka drumstar 64 (no talking hq audio)

7/16/23 The sound of a Viscount PCM 64S dying :(please send schematics :)
video upload by Cfpp0
This appears to be the first post to feature the Viscount PCM 64S.
"This rare and feature-packed (trigger in, out, individual snare out, footswitch jacks for break, clap, and start, volume knobs for six categories, 2 clap variation buttons, three percussion cancel buttons) preset pattern drum machine worked fine every time. Yet it wasn’t getting used enough and was put in a storage box and listed on Reverb. It sold, so it got pulled out for a final test (as one does) before shipping. What evil invisible specter lived in that box? Not sure, but it flew this Viscount over the cookoo’s nest and now this once glorious machine just ratchets and glitches. I opened it up and saw no bulging or leaking capacitors or obvious issues. We have a tech who is willing to fix it, and the previous buyer is still willing to buy it once it’s fixed, but we have no schematic. Viscount was an Italian company and restoration of antiquity is one of the many things at which Italians excel. So, if you have a schematic, posso avere? Ti prego!"
