the pollard syndrum was one of the first commercially available electronic drums. this is the syndrum twin, sometimes called the twindrum - a beautiful drum synthesizer (brain) from 1976 which was part of an electronic drum kit. joe pollard was a session drummer working for the beach boys and other bands.
3. honky tonk music klone kit
sound demo of the quirky klone kit control module. made in the uk 1983 it was a cheap 5 voice alternative to other popular but expensive e-drum solutions of that time. all channels are identical except the snare channel which offers noise. the sound is very limited - followed up by the more flexible klone kit 2. since there's no demo of version 1 I decided to shoot a quick video with proper audio. retail was 299 ukp.

7/16/23 The sound of a Viscount PCM 64S dying :(please send schematics :)

video upload by Cfpp0

This appears to be the first post to feature the Viscount PCM 64S.

"This rare and feature-packed (trigger in, out, individual snare out, footswitch jacks for break, clap, and start, volume knobs for six categories, 2 clap variation buttons, three percussion cancel buttons) preset pattern drum machine worked fine every time. Yet it wasn’t getting used enough and was put in a storage box and listed on Reverb. It sold, so it got pulled out for a final test (as one does) before shipping. What evil invisible specter lived in that box? Not sure, but it flew this Viscount over the cookoo’s nest and now this once glorious machine just ratchets and glitches. I opened it up and saw no bulging or leaking capacitors or obvious issues. We have a tech who is willing to fix it, and the previous buyer is still willing to buy it once it’s fixed, but we have no schematic. Viscount was an Italian company and restoration of antiquity is one of the many things at which Italians excel. So, if you have a schematic, posso avere? Ti prego!"

Oberheim's Lost Classic: The OB12 - Synth and Software

video upload by synthandsoftware

"Synth and Software presents: Oberheim's Lost Classic - The OB12. Mark Jenkins profiles a synth that continues to divide opinion after 20 years"

Some of the divide comes from the OB12 being a Viscount virtual analog. Viscount licensed the Oberheim name.

Sound demos come in at 5:36. It kind of reminds me of an Akai AX-60 in character more than a vintage Oberheim. I actually own both, and vintage Oberheim. It has a similar edge to the AX-60. The OB-12 does excel at pads and warm strings. It's an intersting synth.

SOUNDMIT 2021 - LEONARDO GABRIELLI - A FAMILY AFFAIR Live - @Viscount International

video upload by SOUNDMIT

"During the #soundmit 2021, part of the live shows that we could see and hear were produced by the MACCHINE NOSTRE collective, an ensemble of musicians closely linked to the SYNTH MUSEUM. A series of videos shot in some of the breathtaking locations of #macerata such as Palazzo Buonaccorsi that we see in this video.

In this live entitled "A Family Affair" we find Leonardo Gabrielli driving a brand new #viscount LEGEND 70's and a Viscount #oberheim OB-12.

A family affair because Gabrielli is a son of art: while Leo is one of the minds behind the LEGEND 70's project, the OB-12 was designed in the 2000s by his father!"

Kraft Music - Sound Comparison - Korg SV-2, Crumar Seven and Viscount Legend 70's

"Find exclusive Korg, Crumar and Viscount BUNDLES at Kraft Music:

The Korg SV-2, Crumar Seven and Viscount Legend '70s, are all three powerful instruments that offer each a unique set of features, control panel and most importantly, type of sound. Some musicians require that, "certain sound" that really matches with the music or the style they're playing. High gain, slight distortion, subtle rotary and etc, all matter when you are considering which electric piano is the right fit for you. Another thought to consider is the panel layout. If you're a working musician, there's a strong chance you're looking for a very specific set of features and settings placed in a convenient area of the panel for easier access. No screen driving, pressing shift for alternative functions or use of jog dials.

While not meant to be a deep-dive into the difference in sound, we patched together this short sound comparison of the three aforementioned pianos. Each piano closely playing the same piece written and performed by our good friend Ray Tevich.

Take a quick sound check of the Korg SV-2, Crumar Seven and Viscount Legend 70's Electric pianos and consider what are the sounds and features that matter to you! If you'd like, you can give us a all or chat with us at and ask us any questions you have regarding any of these pianos. Our team is composed of seasoned musicians that love to share their passion of music with everyone, and help you with your musical endeavors.

Korg SV-2 and SV-2S Stage Vintage pianos capture the signature sound, unique performance experience, and aesthetic satisfaction of a compelling collection of definitive keyboards. Available with Korg's RH3 graded-hammer action keybed in 88 or 73-key versions, the SV-2 faithfully reproduces the tonal and dynamic nuances of these classic instruments with a three-dimensional sense of presence. The SV-2 specializes in instant control, with a display-free front panel loaded with knobs and switches, while the free SV-2 Editor for Windows and Mac offers additional configuration and editing options.

The Crumar Seven focuses on recreating the classic sound and appearance of vintage electric pianos. Housed in a vintage-style solid wooden case with lid, handle, and detachable metal legs, Seven features a 73-note hammer action keybed and eight dedicated physical modeling synthesis engines that faithfully replicate electric and acoustic pianos, along with a sample playback piano engine. Seven also offers two independent stereo effects slots, 32 total presets, illuminated RGB encoders, and internal Wi-Fi for its web-app editor.

The Viscount Legend '70s line offers a unique range of digital pianos with a vintage aesthetic. Designed to let the musician customize their instrument, these digital pianos feature sound engine modules that can be swapped and exchanged, allowing pianists to create the instrument that best suits their needs and tastes.
