-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

The rsf's are powerfull synthesizers, built in France in the end of 70's begining 80's, with a HUGE and beautiful, super warm and wide sound.

The Kobol can be coupled with the Kobol Expander 2 and the programmer ( very very rare amazing sequencer ).

These beautiful machines are rare because they were produced by hand by two brothers for only a couple of years."

#onedrumcomputeraday Drum Synth Videos

video uploads by #onedrumcomputeraday

Playlist:
1. toyo gakki ult sound ds-2
quirky little 70's drum synth made in japan
2. pollard syndrum twin
the pollard syndrum was one of the first commercially available electronic drums. this is the syndrum twin, sometimes called the twindrum - a beautiful drum synthesizer (brain) from 1976 which was part of an electronic drum kit. joe pollard was a session drummer working for the beach boys and other bands.
3. honky tonk music klone kit
sound demo of the quirky klone kit control module. made in the uk 1983 it was a cheap 5 voice alternative to other popular but expensive e-drum solutions of that time. all channels are identical except the snare channel which offers noise. the sound is very limited - followed up by the more flexible klone kit 2. since there's no demo of version 1 I decided to shoot a quick video with proper audio. retail was 299 ukp.
4. elka drumstar 64 (no talking hq audio)
quick demo of all preset patterns from this funky little Italian 80s drum machine.
5. electro harmonix rhythm 12
a short video about the lovely little electro harmonix rhythm 12 vintage analog drum machine from 1976. made in the uk by soundtech and licensed to electro harmonix.
6. rsf sd140 sampling drum machine
I finally managed to shoot a quick video on this super rare french sampling drum machine from 1986 - one of my absolute favorite drum machine of all times :)
7. böhm digital drums m. "digi-rocky" drummachine (no talking hq audio)
audio demo (hq) of all preset patterns (+fills) on this tiny forgotten digital 80s böhm drumbox.
8. electro harmonix drm16 drummachine (no talking hq audio)
short (hq) audio demo of this funky little drumbox from the late 70's
9. soundmaster sd-3 "disco beat" drummachine (no talking hq audio)
quick audio demo of this funky little japanese "stomp box" style disco drum machine from the late 70s.
10. pearl dr-x1
from time to time i have to sell something to make a little room for new stuff ;) so I decided to let this beautiful pearl dr-x 1 go and had to do a quick video before it left my dungeon - I hope you like it, had fun to re-listen and doing a few samples - best, steve
11. lel psr and radel electronic tabla
#onedrumcomputeraday is having a look at the worst digital drum machine ever (?) the russian lel psr in a double feature with the odd indian radel electronic tabla - also featured in a little deconstruction of the arctic sunrise song "forever yours".
12. uno drum - anthology drum libraries
very first & early look at the new & fresh libraries for the ik multimedia uno drum
13. icon design dsm200
last look at my the super rare 80‘s drum synth of icon design ... this one unfortunately had to go 😪 so I decided to create some footage for the world wide web before it's gone ...
14. twisted electrons deton8
checking out the little french 8bit drum machine from twisted electrons
15. dynacord percuter s
a little rough demo of the dynacord percuter s drum module (ca.1985) - including audio demos

RSF Kobol Synthesizer with Memory Slots and Built-in Sequencer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This unit works 100 percent and is in a very good condition. The RSF Kobol was the French synth company's first compact keyboard synthesizer. It is a monophonic analog synthesizer with traditional controls, knobs, switches and two oscillators for a good solid analog synth sound. Unique are the 16 memory slots for saving your sounds and the built in sequencer.

Although it is mostly a traditional analog synth with stable oscillators and lots of knobs that allow you to control the ADS envelope, the filter section and the nice LFO, it did offer some unique features for its time. Most notably, the oscillator waveforms can be continuously swept across for a very cool morph from square to saw to pulse, etc. This, as well as note on/off and other parameters can be controlled via CV/gate. External sounds can be processed through the delicious SSM Kobol filter and envelope sections too."

EMEAPP SONIC TEST DRIVE: RSF BLACKBOX Feat. DON SLEPIAN

video upload by EMEAPP

"Another rarity from the halls of EMEAPP, here we have the ultra-rare RSF Blackbox from the late 70s. While it doesn't look like much on the outside, it is capable of a pretty amazing task: it can turn a monosynth into a polysynth by using it's CV/gate output. Intended as a peripheral device for the RSF Kobol monosynth, the Blackbox is compatible with a plethora of other vintage monosynths. In this video, electronic music pioneer Don Slepian will demonstrate the Blackbox's capabilities as a stand-alone instrument.

You can find us at www.emeapp.org where we invite you to join us as a FREE member."

Visite au studio Mos-Lab 2022 [w/ RSF Program Select]

video upload by Nr Synth

"Le studio Mos-Lab a la particularité de ne présenter que des instruments rares voire même rarissimes. Une caverne d'Ali baba qui a de quoi faire tourner la tête à tous les passionnés de synthés analos vintage. Sébastien nous parle de ces 2 dernières acquisitions: le matrix 12 et le Sonic 5."

RSF Kobol Expander I and II

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The rack version of the RSF Kobol with a great sounding and very snappy SSM filter.
The Kobol Rack (Expander I) was essentially only the VCO/VCF/VCA/LFO sections of the Kobol in a rack module. The Expander 2 was an add-on to the Kobol that added some new processing modules such as ring modulation, sample-hold, andenvelope followers as well as extra VCA and LFO modules.

The Kobol looked and sounded great, andwas quickly snapped up by the big names in synthesizers of the time. But beinga small French company, RSF were never able to truly mass produce these.
About 800 Kobol Racks were made, 200 Expander 2's. This makes them quite rare!

They have been used by Vince Clarke,Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel and Hans Zimmer.

The RSF Expander II rack mount modular synth was manufactured as a companionoption module for the Kobol Expander I synthesizer. The19" 3 U space unit features a Ring Modulator, Envelope, a VCA, an LFO,Mixer with 3 inputs and 1 output. Additionally it has a Sample & Holdmodule with internal or external clock, a Noise Generator, Voltage processorthat is delectable Linear or Logarithmic, Voltage Inverter, Gate Delay, anEnvelope Follower, Lag Generator, and finally 2 multiples."

STARWAVE 1984

video upload by MOS-LAB

"Track found in my archives. Composed around 2015, but I lost the Cubase project. So, this song will therefore not be completely finished until I have found the audio files. Fortunately, I had, at the time, the good idea to produce a wav file of the final mix.

I used mainly PPG 1020 and PPG Wave 2.3 ,
and RSF Kobol keyboard (only for one bass line)

Video : extract from the movie Tron : l'Héritage (2010)"

RSF Kobol Expander Vintage Analog supreme excellence!

"One of the best sounding synths of all time.

Tight snappy, yet full and electronics sounding.
One of the best Low pass filters of all time (Moog 904A might be better! ;-)

Runs on 240V (adapter required if you are in the USA).

Excellent condition. Some smudge on the upper VCA for OSC 1.

Lower right corner has a ding.

Sounds sublime, would not sell unless we kept another vintage Kobol Expander in stock ;-)"

Summer session at Mos Lab studio

video upload by Nr Synth

"Après lui avoir présenté le Big Ancestor ARP, Seb et moi avons improvisé juste pour le fun avec nos machines. Puis le miracle est arrivé: Jean -Luc Briançon a transformé ces sessions en un véritable morceau de Berlin School (qui n'est pas sans rappeler les live de TD de le tournée américaine de 1977).
After showing the Big Ancestor ARP, Seb and myself improvised live just for fun with our synths. Hopfully, a miracle is become: Jean Luc Briançon created a real Berlin School song with these sessions (very close to the TD lives from 1977)."
