"The Juno 60 is a six voice polyphonic dual-oscillator synthesizer with a punchy, warm sound that's great for leads, strings and pads. The simple, well laid out control panel allows you to produce a broad range of great analogue sounds quickly and easily.

With the addition of the Minerva Midi kit, a great synth becomes a real world beater. The Midi kit has been professionally installed by the techs at Audiocircus.

Minerva features:

- Full MIDI cc control over all programmable sliders and switches
- MIDI control for pitch bend and arpeggio rate
- Flexible extra LFO, routable to several parameters
- Velocity assignable to VCA or VCF
- Additional dedicated mono ADSR for the VCF
- Memory upgrade to 80 patches
- Patch dump and controller snapshot for easy sound management"

"This humble little box contains huge power. It's 4-part multitimbral with 8-voice polyphony for each voice (hence 32 voices total). The oscillator section contains all the basic waveforms (saw, square, pulse, triangle, sine, noise) plus variations of each - 67 waveforms total! For example, the last variation of SAW is a certain famous Roland sound - the SUPERSAW. In addition, there are 63 drum samples that can be used for programming rhythm tracks. These span the classic range of Roland drum machines, including the CR-78, TR-808, TR-909. Programming is easy with plenty of knobs, buttons, sliders. There are 2 oscillators (previously described) with SUB, 2 multimode LFOs, 2 ADSRs (filter and amp) plus AD envelope on the oscillator pitch mod.

One thing I really like is that the envelope depth for oscillator and filter modulation is bimodal - the depth can be adjusted 100% positive or negative. The multimode filter sounds good, although I don't care much for the resonance as modeled here. There are tons of built-in effects available, including several juicy chorus sounds. The arpeggiator is very powerful, with 64 fully-programmable arpeggiators and 64 programmable drum patterns. Overall this box is very versatile. Even though it's digital it does a great job of delivering vintage Roland sounds (think TB-303, Juno 6)..."

"This MS-20 has the original and legendary Korg-35 filter as opposed to the LM13600, which was used in later models."

A DIY theremin

"Warning: It sounds horrible - but it is an interesting experiment.

The idea that two high inaudible frequencies can be mixed and form a third low audible frequency controlled by waving a hand in front of an antenna was discovered by Russian inventor Lev Sergeyevich Termen in 1919. He build a playable performance instrument that he patented in 1928 and today it is probably the best known electronic instrument from that era.

Instead of the original vacuum tubes I have constructed my version around oscillators made from logic gates - I don't have any practical experience with tubes so it felt more natural for me.

The music is from 1999 and I play it on Yamaha HE-8 organ, Casio SA-1 keyboard, Ace drum machine, Roland SH-2000 synthesizer, and Yamaha PSS-12 keyboard with homemade phaser unit."
