Protototype Polymoog Polypreset Surfaces

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. The prototype Polymoog featured in this previous post is now up for auction here

"The auction is for an, are you ready for this? An early Moog, Polymoog, prototype. Likely the only one known to exist. It is named the Polypreset. Likely an early version of the Polymoog keyboard, the 280a. It is a killer piece. Filled with breadboards and point to point wiring. Fundamentally quite different than the 280A. In its current state it does not power up. The power supply is bad. But when hooked up to another power supply it comes to life. As you see in one of the pics. I have the secondary power supply hooked up. If you looks closely at the pics. You can see some of the LED's glowing. I do not think the current power supply is completely shot. As the piece does emit a hum from an amp when it is hooked up. I just think it needs cap work. I did not want to change any parts, in this piece of history. As for what works and what doesn't. I got 4 of the voices to work. And about two thirds of the keys. The middle section of keys. Does not work. Likely and issue with power to the center motherboard. Either way. This piece represents a time in the development of the Polymoog. And any Moog thereafter. It was hand built. It has a label on the back. Property of Marianne Marchese. Wife of the late Anthony Marchese. Who was head engineer at Moog through many a project. This Moog was found with a large lot of Moog gear. Which I will be listing as I go through it. If you are a fan of Moog gear from this era. You should check my auctions in the future..."

"The SH7 was launched by Roland in 1978 as their flagship monosynth (although duophonic).

Incorporating the filter from the Roland System 700 and offering a wealth of features, it stands as one of the iconic Roland monosynths. This is due to its oscillator power/flexibility, modulation options, punchy envelopes and sound processing capability."
