"This is my favorite sounding Roland SH synth....
It can be mean... it can be beautiful...
and it's raw Osc sound is so pure.
It's a lovely instrument.

This SH-2 is super clean...
plus it was serviced last year for general maintenance:
(brushings, power caps, cleaned, calibrated)
So, it's good to go for a long time...
It's been ultra cared for in my smoke-free, pet-free studio...

I've used it on many recordings and it's sound always brings a smile to my face.
I'm thinning out my studio right now... and really hate to sell, but I need to make
room for a different set up. This awesome synth needs a good home.

Unlike most SH-2 synths you see for sale... This one is USA voltage (not Japanese),
so no need for a voltage converter at all."

Spektro Audio CV Toolkit Goes Standalone - Lemur Integration

CV Toolkit (Standalone Version) - Tutorial

Published on Jan 4, 2014

"This video demonstrates how you can use CV Toolkit and a Eurorack modular synthesizer to create a basic sequence / melody.

CV Toolkit is a standalone application that can be used to control modular synthesizers by sending CV signals through any DC-coupled audio interface or Expert Sleeper's module.

The 1.0 version ships with 13 virtual modules that offer different modulation options such as LFO, sequencer, envelope generators, etc.

You can route the output of any of any module to analog outputs, analyzers (LED / Oscilloscope) or even to the input of certain modules (S&H / Biased Switcher / Slew).

CV Toolkit (Standalone Version) - Lemur Integration

Published on Jan 4, 2014

"This video demonstrates the CV Toolkit + Lemur integration.

After setting it up (takes less than 2 minutes), you can put your iPad next to your modular synth, fire up the Lemur app and play around with CV Toolkit without having to reach for your mouse or keyboard.

The Lemur integration is based on OpenSoundControl aka OSC which means that, unlike MIDI, you can control every parameter with full resolution without having to manually map them.

Update via Icaro Ferre on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"Hey everybody! I've just released the standalone version (for both Mac and PC) of the Spektro Audio CV Toolkit software

It ships with 13 virtual modules, 8 analog outputs, routing matrix, native Lemur integration (via OSC), MIDI Clock sync, ScanGraph, Biased Switcher and many other features.

If you haven't heard about it yet, CV Toolkit can be used to control analog synths by sending CV signals through any DC-coupled audio interface or Expert Sleeper's module.

The main idea for CV Toolkit was to make something that could be used together with already existing solutions such as the Expert Sleepers' Silent Way and Motu Volta.

It's available for U$14,99 (introductory price) over at http://spektroaudio.com/cv-toolkit-standalone

Hope you guys have fun this"

Buchla Music Easel Clone by Roman Filippov

Update: The one pictured above was built by Dave Brown of Modular Synthesis.

via An Inaudible Hum

"If and when BEMI finally makes the Music Easel a readily available item instead of a series of teasers, this clone certainly serves as a fine substitute. While in vintage form this four-paneled monster was called the "Stored Program Sound Source" (due to plug-in sound storage/retrieval cards), it is primary known today as the functional guts of the Buchla Music Easel. The heart of this instrument is its combination of complex and modulation oscillators with pulse, CV (sequencer & random "control"), and filter combinations allowing even more timbral, pitch, waveshape and rhythmic push/pull. That the 208 is without a keyboard is small loss to noise-heads whose distain for pitch is legendary. You may want to try the Keith McMillen QuNexus keyboard as another trigger source to add to the 208. It couldn't hurt, or could it? The 208 is available from Roman via Russian Post."  208r

SonicZoom for iOS

Published on Jan 6, 2014 Robert Tubb·5 videos

"Demo of Sonic Zoom for CMJ article: this version was used for the pilot study, the final release was somewhat different."

iTunes: Sonic Zoom - Robert Tubb - the app is currently free.

"Sonic Zoom is a PhD research project from Queen Mary University. The app aims to look at how people interact with music synthesisers: how they adjust parameters and explore the vast range of sounds on offer.

There are two interfaces presented. The first is fairly standard: ten sliders that control each parameter. The second is more novel: a two-dimensional surface that can be scrolled and zoomed similar to a map. Every sound that can be made with the synth is located somewhere on this surface. If you find a sound you like, you can zoom in on it to explore smaller variations. You can save a sound and this will drop a marker on the surface. These markers are easy to revisit and can be smoothly interpolated between. Your path through the sound space is visible, so you can retrace your steps.

The first 15 minutes is a timed experiment. Users will then be asked to complete a quick questionnaire. After this you are free to use the app, and a few extra features will be unlocked as a reward."

Sonic Touch 28 - Stroke Machine and Electrify NXT

Published on Jan 6, 2014 sonicstate·591 videos

"Electrify NXT and Stroke Machine are two very different approaches to the Groovebox idea. We take a look."

iTunes: Electrify NXT - Ingolf Koch | Stroke Machine - Wolfram Franke

Update: Details on the 1.0.1 update for Stroke mentioned in the video:

"What's New in Version 1.0.1
• Permanent Audiobus key.
• Fixed audio glitches (drop outs).
• Fixed distorted Audiobus recording.
• Fixed a problem that Stroke Machine stopped generating sound after loading a number of kits.
• Fixed issues with modulation wheel, pitch bend and aftertouch.
• Improved overall performance significantly.
• Improved performance of Phaser.
• Reduced bouncing volume.
• Added yellow voice killing indicator to the right of the Master Volume label. If this indicator lights up during playback, you might consider removing one or two notes in your pattern.
• Added red audio glitch indicator to the right of the voice killing indicator. During normal operation, Stroke Machine doesn't glitch anymore, but it might happen that another process draws so much CPU performance temporarily that this results in a glitch.
• Added "Download Manual" button to Global page.
• Added lots of Preset Kits.
• Changed "www.frankemusic.de" to a button linked to the Franke Music website.
• Fixed issue with kits using Delay or Clk Delay having the wrong delay length.
• Fixed an issue with muted or soloed parts when loading a kit.
• Fixed an issue in the assign view.
• Fixed hanging notes on sequencer playback start.
• Fixed problem with some notes playing back too long.
• Fixed a zoom error in step view.
• Fixed possible crash when loading a sound or kit.
• Fixed crash when importing a sound or kit via document sharing on the iPad, i.e. by tapping on a Stroke Machine document received via email.
• Fixed rare modulation problems."
