Published on Nov 27, 2015 Starsky Carr

"Track made using only DSI Prophets and Tempest

Realised my latest track was an all DSI affair, so thought I'd upload a quick video.

Vintage video FX just to add to the atmosphere :)

Published on Dec 16, 2016 Starsky Carr

"A look at how the Prophet 6 copes with making some Moog style bass sounds (whatever they may be!!)

Not exactly scientific. We all know how nice the Prophet 6 sounds on pads etc so just taking a look at how it can take on Bass duties."

Analog Rytm vs Tempest: Sound Design Comparison and Demo by Starsky Carr

Published on Mar 26, 2016 Starsky Carr

"I thought a users view of creating sounds on the Tempest and Analog Rytm might be useful to some folks..

There's lots of info about each in various reviews and forums, but if you can't get hands on experience it might be difficult to decide which is best for you.

Hopefully this will give an idea of how you go about making sounds and which suits your workflow and sound design best.

Hope it's useful."

DSI PRO 2 CLAP SYNTHESIS TUTORIAL ~ Synthesize This! Ep.04

Published on Dec 23, 2016 once upon a synth

"Let's try to synthesize a clap sound on the DSI Pro 2 synthesizer. Synthesizing a clap sound involves two pieces of noise delayed slightly apart and a carful dash of distortion. The clap sound is not as good as a sample but it has its own unique character. Towards the end of the video you can hear the Pro 2's clap in context with a drum beat from the Korg Volca Beats.
