Sequential In The Spotlight Interview with Evan Hodges

You can find the interview on Sequential's website here.

"Evan Hodges is a composer for film and mixed media that holds a degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. He has scored more than 50 films, including both feature films and short films, two musicals, and a full video game soundtrack. Scoring comes intuitively to Hodges. His background and training in jazz, with its highly improvisational component, allows him to adapt quickly and easily to score both simple and advanced thematic musical cues appropriate for every scene. In 2017, Hodges scored the feature, The Canadoo. He was Emmy-nominated in 2018 for the PBS documentary feature, My Dear Children.

We chatted with Evan on how he uses the OB-6 in his music"

Doctor Who Theme performed on the Moog Subsequent 37 Synthesizer (vintage 70's version)

Published on Feb 17, 2020 Sean Christopher Evoking Emotion with Synthesizers

"A year ago I did this famous synth piece on a Moog One, but decided to recreate....with even a more vintage feel (hopefully) with my Moog Subsequent 37....which is one of my favorite mono synths of all time. Every sound on the track is pure Sub 37 with only reverb and delay FX added, and was multi-tracked using Cubase 10.5 Pro.

From Eikipedias- 'Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since 1963. The program depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "the Doctor", an extraterrestrial being, to all appearances human, from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes while working to save civilizations and help people in need.'"

Jam askew w/ Moog Matriarch, Launchpad Pro Mk3, Analog Rytm MkII, Roland SH-01a, Peak, Echosystem

Published on Feb 17, 2020 Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by a couple of days alone. It had been too long since I had the Matriarch on the table, and it was great to explore some of its patching to get a five-note, heavily modulated sound. The Matriarch is blissful and rewarding to just sit and tinker with.

Also, I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the Launchpad Pro, and wanted to give it a spin with an all-hardware setup. It continues to be an excellent sequencer with a fast workflow and nice playing surface.

And finally, I picked up the Roland SH-01a recently. I'd been interested in the SH-101 sound for a while, and liked the SH-01a's small footprint and ability to do polyphony. I actually think it sounds incredible and will be a great workhorse in the future.

Novation Launchpad Pro MkIII — Four-track sequencer
Moog Matriarch — Slow arp / melody, and bass chords (two different parts)
Roland SH-01a + Empress Echosystem — Melody
Novation Peak — Mellow pad
Elektron Analog Rytm MkII — Drums
Kenton MIDI Thru — MIDI splitter

Written and performed within a 48-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.
