Synclavier's Cameron Warner Jones to be Knobcon's Guest of Honor

via Knobcon

"We are delighted to announce Cameron Jones as our esteemed guest of honor. Join us at the annual banquet for his keynote address and to help us honor him.

Cameron Warner Jones is the co-inventor and principal software architect of the Synclavier, the groundbreaking digital synthesizer and music workstation developed in the late 1970s. Jones, co-founder of New England Digital, designed the Synclavier’s real-time software engine, interface, and iconic button panel, helping create one of the most advanced instruments of its era—combining FM and additive synthesis, sampling, and sequencing. He later revived the technology through modern apps and hardware, ensuring the Synclavier’s legacy lives on.

The annual catered banquet will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 7pm in the Sapphire Pavilion. Tickets are available as an add-on to your Knobcon attendance. Seating is limited."

Roland V-Synth XT - Rackmount version of the original V-Synth

video upload by GenosKeys

"The original Roland V-Synth keyboard was released in 2003. The V-Synth XT (Rackmount) was released in 2005. Roland later released the V-Synth GT keyboard in 2007 which added a new synthesis architecture called Articulative Phrase (AP) Synthesis plus it had 28-note polyphony versus the V-Synth and V-Synth XT's 24-note polyphony. You can find used V-Synth XT's on Reverb.com for $1,000-$1,350. The V-Synth XT cost $3,000 brand new when it was released."

EMS Vocoder 5000 Repair

video upload by Really Nice Audio

"The time has come that bridge rectifiers from the mid 70's can fail short due to age. In this repair I managed to find a blown one and another that was on its way out! This was an RS bridge rectifier dated 1976.

This EMS Vocoder 5000 belongs to Pete Townshend and is housed at The University of West London.

Buchla 200 and 2HP Loop

video upload by Memetune Studio

"Here is another Buchla exploration with the Sputnik 289 and also a set of 2hp modules - the Loop and the Pitch which are a really great way of capturing audio (up to 5 mins) and then messing with it

In this patch I have got 2 channels going through the 289, 2 channels coming from the VRS23 and one from the 2hp modules, all being mixed and recorded through the Teenage Engineering TX-6

The result sounds something like me tuning a radio while falling down a mine shaft into an underground cavern filled with wasps"
