This is the first one I've seen with blue on black. Previous posts show the all yellow on black version.

"Analogue solutions filtered coffee MS-20 based high pass / low pass VCF module, with 2 LFO, envelope follower and VCA , 14 1/4" inputs and outputs on the rear of the module 1U rack module in fair condition

The unit is in working condition with the exception of two scratchy pull out potentiometers on the low pass CV 1 and CV2, power adapter plug guide missing but does not affect powering up the unit"

Analogue Solutions Filtered Coffee fx unit. It is essentially the FX section of the MS-20 with incredible modularity added. It is in fantastic shape and sounds great."

More is Less: Moogerfoogers vs the kitchen sink

YouTube via dkimcg
"A couple more toys, some new ones, some old ones. A couple more noises, some cool, some annoying. A couple minutes too much, it gets quite repetative.

Everything was recorded in one take, no overdubs. MPC1000 sequences the MBase01 and triggers the DSI Evolver which also sequences my Paia 9700s modular synth. LFOs cross modulate throughout, everything tried to sync itself to the main beat of the MBase01 by tracking the envelope that the FIltered Coffee generates.

Pretty much, this is most my current analog gear working together.
Moogerfoogers:
CP-251 Control Processor
MuRF
BassMuRF
Analog Delay 104z
Ring Modulator
FreqBox
Dave Smith Instruments Desktop Evolver
Jomox:
T-Resonator
MBase01
Analogue Solutions Filtered Coffee
Roland Space Echo
Paia 9700s Modular synth (built from a kit)
And some processing courtesy of Cycling'74 Pluggo and Logic (some additional reverb, delay and compression, and a little bit of that odd MaxMSP sound courtesy of Pluggo)."

Stirring Up Some Filtered Coffee Self Resonation

video upload by dkimcg

"I made this video while testing out the filter's self oscillation and the CV ins and outs on the Analogue Solutions Filtered Coffee. This time I did things right, and the audio syncs up, unlike the 1st Filtered Coffee video. In case you're curious, it was a timecode issue, 30fps vs 29.97 (drop frame).

LFO1 on the Analogue Solutions Filtered Coffee is the master clock here. It triggers the Jomox MBase01 kick drum through the Moog CP-251 (a neat way of triggering the kick via CV control) The CP-251 splits and combines a few signals and send them out to the Moogerfoogers (FreqBox, RingMod, and MuRF), the sample and hold of the noise controlling the RingMod and FreqBox frequency inputs is the most recognizable sound the CP-251 controls. It's LFO is also controlled with the LFO from the Filtered Coffee. So...basically, the self modulation of the filter's resonance is the tone generator that gets everything rolling. Well, except for the MBase which kicks the TResonator's envelope which combines the kick and the Coffee's self oscillation. Then it goes through the FreqBox, into the RingMod, and out the MuRF to be compressed, space echoed, and recorded through compressors. Three tracks were generated/recorded and mixed with some additional compression and a little reverb, nothing else. The reverb adds some depth and stereo imaging, it sounds extra reverby since the Space Echo was doing it's thing with the spring reverb and delays. The levels get a bit hot, and the T-Resonator barely stays in control...what a beast, I love it. It gets a bit messy in there at time, but I think there are a couple cool parts, and you get to see more of what the Analogue Solutions Phobos Filtered Coffee can do to create sound as well as subtracting from sound. I really love the feedback you can create from the coffee, tres, and space echo...so many types of feedback. I love audio feedback...."

Analogue Solutions Phobos Filtered Coffee & DSI Evolver

YouTube via dkimcg

"I just got the Analogue Solutions Phobos Filtered Coffee. It's an all analog filter based on the famous Korg MS-20's filters. The sequence is played by the DSI desktop Evolver with the the filters wide open and no resonance. All the filtering you hear is done by the Filtered Coffee with some slight coloration by the Urei LA-22 compressor. I start with the filter in the "unfiltered" settings, which still sounds pretty warm, some may like it some may not. I like the warmness it gives the sound, but I wouldn't use it on every track. I bet the MPC would sound great through it, now I wish I had a pair of these, which I guess you can sync up just by patching the LFO outs and ins in the back panel (there's over a dozen ins and outs, audio and CV in back).

Then I twiddle knobs starting with the lowpass. I tried to shoot it as clear as I could so anyone watching could see what I'm twisting. I twiddle some more, and then make push everything to sound a lot different than the source. As a bonus, I turn on the Roland RE-201 for more Space Echoey tape delay/spring reverb. There's no digital processing on this recording, what you hear is what I recorded.

I found out about this filter while looking for a good MS-20 filter clone. While I was begging the guys at Big City Music to sell me a frostwave resonator, which hopefully soon will be back in production, I came across this filter. I saw this and a Vermona filter. I wanted a MS-20 clone, and the Filtered coffee was based on it. So...I like coffee, I like MS-20's filters sound, I needed a filter a bit more easily tamed than the T-Resonator. Filtered Coffee it is...

The movie looses sync slowly, I think I have to figure out better settings, better luck next time. It's not too bad tho, it's off no more than a second or two at the end. I think it's a timecode issue I had when editing in the good audio into the video, but I'm too lazy to re-render now.

Enjoy."
