"For those of you who are curious, then I have to say that the Fizmo is very different from Waldorf style wavetable synthesizers. I might go as far as to say that it is esoteric. You could spend a good deal of time programing a patch, make one turn of the transwaves and have an entirely different sound on your hands. Some of the transwaves are non-musical, and the harmonics will animate is a very strange way. I thought that this was going to be a good alternative to a Microwave XT, it is a very different animal. To further complicate things the effects section is based off of the DP-4 processor which introduces the ability to integrate effects into the modulation matrix, this synth has a pretty steep learning curve. I admit that I bit off more than I could chew with this synth. Consider yourself warned, all sales are final. Having said all of that, the thing sounds beautiful. The swirling and transforming textures are organic and alien at the same time. I've never heard anything else like it. In the video I tried to demonstrate how quickly a sound could transform in dramatically bizarre directions, but the mic on my camera is small, and most of the base response was not captured, but I assure you, this thing will shake your windows. **The Fizmo has been criticized by based on the voltage regulator and a processing delay from the real time controls. BTW, this reminded me of a crazy synth dream I had last night. In my dream I was heading to some synth gathering and spotted a pawn shop when I parked. I went in not expecting much and then saw a bunch of stuff in different sections of the shop. I had that "yes!" feeling. To the right there was a two octave Fizmo! I have a Fizmo and debated whether I should pick it up as a lap synth. I then walked over and there was a Blue SH-101 in pristine shape for $400!!! I was definitely going to get that. I then started to see what else they had and Computer Controlled dropped in. I ran to the SH-101! :) Anyway he was coming in from the synth gathering to check things out. If only he dropped by beforehand. I took a bunch of shots for the blog and then woke up thinking well at least I got the shots! Yep... if only. :) The other night I had a crazy synth dream with Tom Cruise. He was on Oprah and then the show switched over to Letterman. He was talking about how he was all into synths now and he then performed some prog rock electronica. He kind of looked like a cross between Gandalf and this guy. Glad that one is over. 
"Very nice example of the Ensoniq Fizmo. It works and sounds great. It also has the good power regulator so you don't need to worry about it dying on you. The only small issue is the volume pot has a tiny dead spot about 3/4 of travel but still allows you to dial in any volume level and has not been a problem for me. All other encoders work nicely and produce accurate and steady values on the display. All keys, aftertouch, wheels and jacks also work perfectly. There are very few blemishes, none worth mentioning, it's a very clean synth inside and out."
"Ensoniq FiZmo keyboard in perfect working order, including original manuals. The only fault is the vinyl rubber of the volume knob has been partially shredded by a cat chewing on it. My fault for letting the cat in near the keyboards. The only reason said cat still breathes is that I don't know which one did it and my innate sense of justice demands that only the culprit shall be prosecuted, preventing me from descending into the latitude of 'the only good cat is a dead cat.' But, it was close, for a few seconds. The volume pot is fully functional, just, as can be seen in the photos, the knob is a little hairy. Gives it character..."
