EML 200 and Sunsyn Demo Video Pt. 1 & 2

YouTube Uploaded by ricel1992 on Jun 7, 2011

New videos for this auction.

"Selling off my EML 200 so I've decided to make a few videos of some pretty nonchalant jams to remember this awesome synth with and to show any potential buyers the tip of the iceberg with this semi-modular synthesizer.

The signal starts of just clean sunsyn then i start patching it in - the EML 200 really brings out any instruments hidden potential. For example, I feel that it really erases any "modern electronic" sound that the sunsyn might have by itself. In essence the sound is made grittier and more vintagey - I like it!

Anyways, check out the auction - pretty sad to have to see this one go

Oh and ignore the crappy playing, I was kinda going for something ambient but I'm not primarily a keys player"

EML 200 Ebay Demo FOR SALE

"Made this quick little demo to show off just what the EML (electronic music laboratories) 200 can really do to your sound before I sell it off. Make a new analog have that super smooth vintage sound, put a ring mod on your incoming synth signal and get yamaha cs 80 like tones. After making this demo I am almost having second thoughts but I really could use the money.

The first section of the video is a jomox Sunsyn going in first clean, then its getting some delay and the I'm pushing the manual button to get the ring mod to kick in on the signal.

Second off we have the guitar through it. It starts with just a nice analog tremelo courtesy of the ring mod with manual fade ins/outs via the push button - also a little bit of analog overdrive on the tone with that - nothing but pure eml in this video.

Finally, a little noise making showing off some of the possibilities one can find through the EML 200 semi modular synthesizer"

Sennheiser VSM201 Vocoder owned by Herbie Hancock

via this auction

"For sale is a vintage Sennheiser VSM201 vocoder. VSM201's are very rare and perhaps the most incredible and versatile of all analog vocoders. These originally cost $20,000 and very few were made. I have heard only 5 are still in operational condition in the states. This one was fully serviced this past year and is fully functional. It is in great shape for such an old instrument, and even includes the original box! It sounds absolutely amazing. In addition, this vocoder has an incredible history. It was owned by Herbie Hancock! A certificate verifying this will be included in the auction. See pictures below for more details. Here is a short sound demo. This demo only scratches the surface of its features, demonstrating its most basic abilities."

NAMM: Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim

A new batch of NAMM shots via synchro1 are up here.
"Highlights today (some are in the photos):
- Thanking Dave Smith & Tom Oberheim for making new instruments
- The Nord Piano looks to be a nice live instrument. The word "noise" is misspelled on the prototype.
- Seeing Gino Robair & Mike Peake again after several years
- Eigenharp demo - 3 models now coming out - Pico is $500 US, new T'au model will retail around $2800, out in May. Instruments only work with
Mac; PC version scheduled for March.
- meeting Jurgen from Jomox and scheduling my SunSyn upgrade
- Analogue Solutions has a prototype of a new hardware sequencer in the Noisebug booth
- watching Dieter Doepfer patch away like mad and *really* get into, so much so that he kept expanding the patch as security was turning off the lights and chasing us out. Seeing the joy on his face while he worked away at an excellent patch that sounbded a lot like Trans Europe Express. I had a chance for an extended conversation and we shared our love of the modulars that were out of our price range in our younger days.
- bought a pocket sax - which is a tenor reed/mouthpiece attached to a modified recorder body. Sounds a lot like a sax and only cost $70. My original instruments were alto & bass clarinet and since I stopped smoking I might even have my wind back. Embouchure will take a little longer..."
