I have read so many comments like 'PB is weak' 'PB Lacks Character' 'PB is nothing special'

I could not disagree more. Like any instrument, the PB takes time to learn, I agree on first instance it's not easy to dial in anything special, but the more time I spend on this synth, the more special it is becoming.

it is not to be overlooked, it can be just as fat as any other poly synth, and when the correct balance is fount it oozes character.

The ability to create ever changing textures and modulations with the PB12 is amazing, the morph function can be used to drastically change the sound, or (like in this case) bring in some additional textures and artifacts and modulations to further develop an ever evolving pad keeping the sound interesting without going too crazy.

I am one for subtle texture changes, ones that feel very musical, and this patch is one I could play for hours.

As you know I always like to test out the envelopes by creating apowerful pluck like sound, nothing better than that woody sound when the filter is low.
This also utilises the overdub ability of the sequencer, along with the motion record too.

The Musical content in this video is purely all based in a held C Minor, with some additional notes.

It is more to let listeners hear how much modulation depth the PB12 is capable of. There are no sequencers used, the 'Hold' button is on, and any repeating notes are purely from the looping envelopes :)

As capable as the PolyBrute is at hugely complex modulated sounds, it really shines at subtle expressivity. This patch uses poly aftertouch to add additional expression control to the analog strings. The Morph button slowly brightens and widens the sound to give it a more cinematic and beautiful feel.

A Demo of one of the pads in the Forthcoming OB-X8 Pack Explorations Vol.2 - Pad Name - SM Glorious (for obvious rasons)

The OB-X8 is one of the most (if not THE most) alive synths on the current market today, it absolutely shines at so many things, but Pads it is an absolute dream!

I thought I would share this with you. For me it has that perfect sizzle OB are famous for and just breathes when the cutoff filter & resonance are adjusted.

Before getting the head into Explorations Volume 2, I have Spent that past couple of days familiarising myself with the OB-X8 again and also the new 2.0 Firmware features, decided the best way to road test, is write a track only using the OB-X8

This synth is way up there in my top synths of all time. Absolutely love it.

anyway, a commercial kinda track this one. was great fun putting it together.

This is a very common question I am asked by owners. and curious potential buyers of the moog one, "Can it do realistic piano sounds?"

Obviously the best thing for these type of sounds is either the real thing or romplers.

but me being me, I thought I'd try and see how close I could get it. And not surprisingly, the Moog One gets quite close bearing in mind it is fully analog.

the musical piece, I composed while programming this patch, I have aptly named it 'ONE'

So Finally, I have got back to the wonderful instrument that is the Moog ONE, what a remarkable instrument it is! an absolute pleasure to program and play.

I feel this is my best work to date, over 140 sounds in 100 patches many having a different sound on each of the 3 synth engines!

The downloadable file you will receive also has a couple of major tips on how to get the best attacke from your envelopes and how to properly gain stage your moog one for the best/minimum noise.
